Cheesy and Sausage Goodness

These simple and delicious sausage and cheese tarts are very easily made and are great to be served as a party appetizer because, the recipe can be adjusted and instead of doing individual tart sized, small and individual, you can make this into a 9" pie plate. One easy way to make this work is to just buy the frozen 9" pie crust. It usually has two in a pack so, you could use the other pie crust to make a pie for dessert. If you don't mind making your own pie crust, you can just make your own crust for this breakfast food. This recipe could easily be served at other meals rather than just breakfast only.

The individual tarts are also good to be served at a football party, a baby shower, at someone's graduation celebration and they are even elegant enough to be served at a wedding. The tarts could easily be served on either the bride or the groom's table. This is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner and it is great any time of the year.

The homemade crust tastes good and is a perfect consistency and for this recipe, I love the way that it cooks up nice and even in the tart pan that I have. The tart dough is easily made and can be pressed in to the tart pan. I use the wooden tart press that I purchased specifically to use with the tart pan. You can mix the ingredients that make up the recipe and you can use different types of cheese. Even change up the sausages to Italian sausage or even just a hotter type sausage. The hotness of the sausage is a personal preference.

This is a great hearty little bite size breakfast food. You would be surprised that something so easy to put together could turn out to be so elegant. When cooking the tart, experiment with different flavors and different food combinations.

One day I am going to try to make pizza tarts as well. It would just be sauce, cheese, pepperoni and whatever other toppings you may want.

These tarts can be made larger or left smaller and made in a tart pan. Roll out the dough to about the size of a quarter and drop each one into a place in the pan. Now, use the wooden tart maker to press the dough into "tarts". This little tool cost me $1.00. The pan was a little more than that but, if you making different tart recipes, I think that you will find that these two items are a must have.

Not only can you make every day tarts but, also dessert tarts are extremely popular so, once you have mastered the tart pan, try some sweets!! Your friends, family and co-workers, will be glad you did. The pan comes with a couple of recipes and this pan comes with a recipe for pecan tarts. I remember making these with my mom. We tried them out before my wedding. These were such a hit that we decided to make them for the wedding. They were popular at the wedding as well.

I like the idea of having a women's garden party. You can serve this particular tart by cutting it into squares. If you have several other dishes to be served at the party you could stick a toothpick into each square to serve. If you make the tarts, i would use a small pair of tongs to serve with the tarts. This is a very versatile dish. These tarts would be good served at church, for a church dinner.

Sausage Anytime!

Whether it's for breakfast, lunch or dinner sausage is delicious and can be prepared in many different ways. Sausage is best in my opinion as a breakfast food but, in this casserole, I could see my family eating this at night for dinner. You could use ham, chopped up or any kind of meat. One variation of this dish could be to use hot and spicy sausage and you could also add some jalapeno seasoning or cut up jalapenos themselves. Using different kinds of cheeses that you like will change up the taste of this casserole. The possibilities are endless because there are so many different flavor combinations.
