Elegant Mealtimes at the Backyard Barbecue
Elegance and Comfort
When the weather is fine there is nothing better than an outdoor barbecue with family and friends. Anyone lucky enough to have a large yard can have it fitted with an outdoor garden set that will make it just as cosy as inside the home, and with the addition of a barbecue grill they have everything they need for a fun and delicious meal in the open air.
Even a small patio or deck can accommodate a kettle style barbecue and a small table and chairs, so it is not necessary to have loads of space to enjoy a family barbecue. Patio furniture sets are designed to optimise space.
Barbecue grills come in all shapes and sizes, from the very small kettle grills to enormous custom-built brick affairs, but they all have one thing in common, in that they produce delicious tasting meat and fish that cannot be replicated elsewhere.
T-Bone Steak on the Grill
Charcoal grills add a certain smokiness to food, while wood burning barbecues produce an inimitable flavour all their own. Even the newer gas and electric barbecues can add a surprisingly fresh taste of the outdoors, while any barbecue grilled foods taste much better than those produced in a skillet or indoor oven.
A garden or yard can be turned into a beautiful setting where the family can enjoy every meal in fine weather; from breakfast to supper can be served outdoors, on furniture as elegant and comfortable as anything found inside the house.
This is the ideal way to take advantage of what are increasingly short summer months; there are too many cold winter months when we are forced to stay inside the home.
As well as tables and chairs, there are hammocks and swing seats, and even plush couches and easy chairs that are designed for outdoor use. Some of these may take up a lot of space and require storage in the winter time, but even those who don't have so much space can still find very comfortable and attractive outdoor furniture that can be folded up and packed away quite easily.
Cooking on the Grill
Breakfast time may be cereals with ice cold milk, or eggs and bacon, or possibly even a full English, but whatever your choice it all tastes better in the fresh air. Then comes lunch, which can be picnic style or a full meat, potatoes and vegetables meal, or if it is really hot possibly some grilled fish and some salad; leaving the heavy meal for the evening. Steaks never tasted better than when grilled on the open barbecue, and the same applies to fish, which can be cooked directly on the grill or wrapped in tinfoil to keep it moist and save the grill from mess. Potatoes can be dropped directly into the coals or wrapped in foil and baked on top, or precooked potatoes seared on the open grill for appearance and flavour. Vegetables wrapped in an envelope of foil will also cook to perfection on a barbecue, so there is really no need for the indoor kitchen at all.
A Home Outdoors
With an attractive outdoor furniture set and a barbecue grill, one only really needs to enter the house for sleeping and showering, and the rest of the time can be spent enjoying the weather and the beauty of nature.
