All-American Chicken and Dumplings Loved By Everyone
Yummy Chicken 'N Dumplings
The chicken and dumplings were so good that I had much rather eat them than go out on a ate with a pretty girl. And this is NO kidding.
1 ½ Cup Plain Flour
2 tsp. Baking powder
½ tsp. Salt
½ cup. Chicken broth
2 Tdsp. Vegetable oil
2 qt. Chicken broth
Now. Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add broth and oil, stirring until dry ingredients are moist. Form ball. Roll dough until 1/16-inch thick. Using a sharp knife, cut the entire rolled dough into 1-inch strips, then cut crosswise into 1 1/2-inch rectangles. Drop dumplings into boiling broth. Cover and cook on medium-low heat 15 minutes, or until tender. Makes 6 servings.
I cannot begin to tell you just how many priceless memories this recipe brings back. The time that I spent watching my mom prepare her chicken and dumplings a little at the time, but making every piece to her liking. And that was more than good enough.
Many is the time when another family of relatives (or neighbors) would drop in on any given Sunday afternoon, sit around, talk, drink coffee and tea, and then at supper, devour those chicken and dumplings that mother made.
She received a lot of “highest”compliments for her cooking, chicken and dumplings too, because at the end of the meal, there was NO more food to eat.
