Fascinating Food – Steak Some simple Steak Seasonings

When preparing a marinade for steak there are many different flavours and techniques you can use to create a magical marinade. In this article I will explore some different recipes which will give your steak a range of different exciting flavours. Depending on your mood, or the cut of the meat you might want to try something spicy? Or maybe something rich and creamy? Often you can make a lovely steak sauce to complement your marinade; but if a marinade is done correctly you won’t always need a sauce! Below are some of my favourite steak marinates. Feel free to substitute ingredients if you want to try something a little different!


Simplicity (For One – Two steaks)

If you are in a rush, and don’t have time to prepare a more complex marinade that needs to soak in for twelve hours this is the seasoning for you. Simply mix the following ingredients in a small bowl and rub over your steak before cooking. The remaining seasoning can be added to the steak as it cooks or added into a sauce made later.

· 2/3 Teaspoon Salt

· 1 1/2 Teaspoon Pepper

· 1/4 Teaspoon Garlic

· 1/2 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce

· 1/4 Tablespoon Dijon Mustard

· 1/4 Lemon Freshly squeezed

· 1 Tablespoon Acacia Honey or Maple Syrup


Venison Beer Steak Marinade (For Four – Six steaks)

Mix all the below ingredients into a mixing bowl and use a metal whisk or a wooden spoon to mix the ingredients until they form a smooth and even marinade. Let the steaks marinade for between eight and twelve hours before cooking.

· 1 Cup of Guinness Draft

· 1/4 Cup of Extra Virgin Olive Oil

· 1/8 Cup of Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice

· 2 Tablespoons of Coarse Ground Black Pepper

· 3 Tablespoons of Worcestershire Sauce

· 4 Large Fresh Diced Shallots

· 8 Large Fresh Minced Garlic Cloves

· 2 Large Fresh Minced Green Jalapeno Peppers

· 1 Large Fresh Bunch of Diced Coriander

· 1/4 Cup of Ginger Soy Sauce


Tokyo Easy Marinade (For Two steaks)

Mix all the below ingredients into a mixing bowl and use a metal whisk or a wooden spoon to mix the ingredients until they form a smooth and even marinade. Let the steaks marinade for between eight and twelve hours before cooking.

· 1/3 Cup of Sesame Oil

· 1/3 Cup of Dark Soy Sauce

· 1 Large Fresh Minced Garlic Clove

· 1/3 Cup of Dry Sherry

· 2 Tablespoons of Raw Clover Honey

· 2 Tablespoons of Fresh Grated Ginger Root

· 1/2 Teaspoon of Garlic Powder

· 1/2 Teaspoon of Onion Powder

· 3 Tablespoons of Fresh Pineapple Juice

· 1/4 Teaspoon of dried Basil

Rib Eye Steak Marinade (For Four – Six steaks)

Mix all the below ingredients into a mixing bowl and use a metal whisk or a wooden spoon to mix the ingredients until they form a smooth and even marinade. Let the steaks marinade for at least three hours.

· 3 Tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil

· 1 Cup of Apple Juice

· 1/4 Cup of Mushroom Flavoured Dark Soy Sauce

· 1/4 Cup of Minced Onion

· 6 Large Fresh Minced Garlic Cloves

· 1 Teaspoon of White Pepper

· 1 Large Fresh Minced Green Jalapeno Pepper

· 3 Tablespoons of Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice

Homemade Steak Marinade (For Four – Six steaks)

Mix all the below ingredients into a mixing bowl and use a metal whisk or a wooden spoon to mix the ingredients until they form a smooth and even marinade. Let the steaks marinade for at least three hours.

· 1 Cup of Pure Vegetable Oil

· 1/2 Teaspoon of Crushed Red Pepper Flakes

· 1/2 Cup of Sweet Soy Sauce

· 1/3 Cup of Red Wine Vinegar

· 1/4 Cup of Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice

· 3 Tablespoons of Worcestershire Sauce

· 1 Tablespoon of Coarse Ground Black Pepper

· 2 Tablespoons of Honey Dijon Mustard

· 1 Large Diced Onion

· 2 Large Minced Garlic Cloves

· 1/2 Teaspoon of Onion Powder

· 1 Pinch of Dark Chili Powder

T-Bone Steak Marinade (For Four – Six steaks)

Mix all the below ingredients into a mixing bowl and use a metal whisk or a wooden spoon to mix the ingredients until they form a smooth and even marinade. This marinade is ready for immediate use.

· 1/4 Teaspoon of Hot Paprika

· 1 Large Fresh Minced Garlic Clove

· 1/2 Dived Onion

· 1/2 Cup of Soy Sauce

· 1/4 Cup of Worcestershire Sauce

· 1/2 Teaspoon of Garlic Powder

· 1/2 Teaspoon of Steak Rub Seasoning

· 1/4 Cup of Extra Virgin Olive Oil

· 1/4 Teaspoon of Coarse Ground Black Pepper

· 1/4 Cup of Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice

· 3 Tablespoons of dark brown Cane Sugar

· 1/2 Teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes
