Fast Vegan Salad Recipe and More

Updated on August 22, 2011

Side dish for vegan fast food

Going vegan is not easy to do. If you are trying to make the move, time becomes an issue. You will find yourself running out of ideas about making something fast. I suggest newly vegan folks buy two or three vegetarian cookbooks. That will help you get used to a new way of eating. Without this additional support many people give up. Finding some real good vegan recipes will help you adjust.

Consider a new collection of fast food recipes. You may want to stop shopping at the usual market and find a good food co-op near you. If buying at the super center look for veggie hot dogs, veggie burgers, and a good bacon substitute. These products will help you save time and make you feel less deprived. You may want to add regular hot dog and hamburger rolls to go with these products. Going vegan can be a gradual change. Remember take your vitamins to prefent deficiencies.

Here are a few instant recipes I have made up to go with fast vegetarian dishes.

Fast Cabbage Salad!

Break up a half a head of cabbage, some onion, a sprinkle of ginger, and a few baby carrots. Shred all in a blender. Add two tablespoons of your favorite Italian dressing. Instant salad!

Fastest Smoothie!

Add ice, a cup of strawberries and a can of pineapple and blend. Instant smoothie! You can add dairy or soy yogurt to this if you like.

Change PB and J into PB and Honey!

Kids love peanut butter and honey sandwiches on organic whole wheat bread. Skip white bread. The honey makes white bread soggy.

Never give up on going vegan. It only takes time to get used to. You can do it! By Joanne Kathleen Farrell, author of the historical fiction novel Liberty for the Lion Shield
