Favorite Sports Theme Restaurants
Are you a sports fan? Sometimes the next best thing to going to see your favorite professional or college team play in person is to spend an afternoon or evening watching the big game at a sports themed restaurant. Depending on where you live, you may have access to a local establishment that draws a sports viewing crowd. Many larger cities are home to sports theme restaurants that specialize in creating an ultimate sports viewing experience for diners.
If you find yourself near an ESPN zone on game day, be sure to stop by for some great food and a terrific viewing opportunity. A few years ago I happened to be in D.C. during football season. I had a great time watching the local team play on several high definition big screen televisions while enjoying one of the best hamburgers I've ever had.
In addition to delicious food and an impressive television viewing experience, you'll also have an opportunity to play some games of your own. Each ESPN Zone restaurant features more than 10,000 square feet of interactive games and other attractions that patrons can enjoy.
You can find these sports theme restaurants in a number of big cities across the U.S., in addition to the District of Columbia, including: Anaheim, Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, and New York City.
If you find yourself traveling through Alabama, make a point of stopping at one of the several Baumhauer's Wings restaurants located throughout the state. Started by Bob Baumhauer, an All-American from the University of Alabama and 6 time All-Pro for the Miami Dolphins, this terrific sports theme restaurant began near the owner's alma mater in Tuscaloosa, AL. There are now several locations throughout Alabama.
Wings is a great place to watch football, baseball, basketball, or any other sport that you enjoy. The menu is great - it's packed with several different types of wings as well as a wide selection of other great menu items. The garlic wings are my favorite, and the burgers are delicious (and huge). You'll also have an opportunity to enjoy playing computerized sports trivia from your table or in the bar.
Ozzie's Restaurant and Bar
The next time you're in St. Louis, make a point of stopping by Ozzie's Restaurant and Bar. If you're a baseball fan, you probably don't need me to point out that this restaurant was founded by Ozzie Smith, the Cardinals' Hall of Fame Cardinals shortstop. This restaurant is a terrific place to enjoy watching any sports event. With 5 enormous televisions and fifty smaller screens, you won't miss a minute of your favorite team's action while you enjoy a top notch meal at your leisure.
