The Best Muffin Pans
Buying A Muffin Pan
Baking muffins can be fun and easy if you have the correct equipment, namely a good muffin pan. You never know when your nieces and nephews, or grandkids will come and visit you for the weekend and kids love to bake muffins.
When it comes to baking, many novices are put off by the seemingly difficult task of making a batter and baking it correctly. But the wide range of ready made muffin mixes are generally of a very high quality, and as long as you have a consistent, reasonable quality oven, all you need is a mixing bowl, wooden spatula and a good muffin pab.
These are the five best muffin pans on the market. All well made and functional.
Farberware Nonstick Bakeware 12-Cup Muffin Pan
If you want rich and classy muffins, bake them in a nice sturdy pan like the Farberware Nonstick Muffin Pans. It is a 12 cup muffin pan with a cold-rolled steel construction. Farberware products are made of two- coat silicone polyester nonstick surface that lets you release muffins easily. It is also warp resistant and will last for years.. It has large handles to secure your grip with oven mitts.
However, this a good pan that is best to handwash in order to protect the coating. But this is true of most nonstick baking pans if you want them to last for a long time. One word of warning - you really have to measure your oven first before purchasing this pan - because of the wider handle, it will not fit in smaller ovens.
Baker's Secret Basics Nonstick 24-Cup Mini Muffin Pan
This 24 cup mini muffin pan is a non stick muffin pan that makes muffin release easier than stainless and Aluminum pans. It is 2 ply steel fortified with ETP for enhanced durability and rust protection. This makes great muffins with even results and optimal browning.
You really must use non-metal utensils for this though. This pan is a dishwasher safe making cleaning easier.
First I bought a 12 cup muffin mold but it was just not enough. The cups are too big for my little kids so I decided to try making mini muffins for them. First I had gotten a cheap 24 cup muffin mold and it turned out to be a disaster, because the muffins were too hard to get out. But this pan has really made my muffin baking easier and a lot more fun.
Wilton 6 Cup Jumbo Muffin Pan
This is great for cupcakes, mini cakes, gelatin, ice cream or mousse, as well as giant muffins. The Wilton 6 Cup Jumbo Muffin pan is made of heavy gauge steel that provides even-heating performance. It is a non stick baking tray for easier food release and clean up. You can put it in a dishwasher too.
One Christmas, I decided to give food treats as a gift to my colleagues at work and decided to make mini cakes for them. I was worried that making cakes this small out of a muffin cup would end up with mashed up cake, but my "mini" cakes went down a treat. This Jumbo muffin pan has really made my Christmas great! Now, every Christmas my friends are waiting for my mini cakes and won't take no for an answer. Great tray.
Chicago Metallic Gourmetware 12-cup Regular Muffin Pan
This Chicago Metallic Gourmetware is constructed of heavy duty steel for strength and durability. It ensures an even muffin making without any hotspots. It has a non-stick coating for easy removal and quick clean up.
This really has a nice performance for its price. I have made several batches of muffins with this and the non stick really works. I had sprayed oil with this to be on the safe side during my first few times of using it, but after I forgot the oil, the muffins came out easily just like with oil on and I have not used oil since. This is really a great pan.
Roshco Silicone 12-Cup Muffin Pan with Sled
This Roshco Silicone 12-Cup Muffin pan is a refrigerator, freezer, microwave, dishwasher and oven safe pan that you can use not just for muffins but with making mini cakes as well. It is FDA approved so you are sure that these are safe to use. This also comes with sled wire for easy transport from and to the oven.
I am really glad that I do not have to use muffin liners any more. The great thing I love about silicone baking pans and trays is that I don't have to worry about whether they are dishwasher safe or not---because, unlike the metal pans - they all are. I get to have a nonstick pan and a dishwasher safe pan at the same time.
