Healthy, Easy Turkey Sausage Recipe

Updated on May 27, 2014

Healthier and just as flavorful as pork

Turkey sausage tends to be on the bland side, so in order to combat that, I revamped a turkey sausage recipe I found years ago.

This is a breakfast sausage recipe that I started making for my family after my dad was diagnosed with high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

Cook Time

Prep time: 10 min
Cook time: 20 min
Ready in: 30 min
Yields: 6-12 patties

Ingredients

  • 1-2 pounds Ground Turkey, depending on the intensity of flavor you want. I use 1.25 pounds.
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoon rubbed sage
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
Assemble all ingredients before beginning.

Combine all seasonings and thaw your turkey if frozen.

Throw all those spices into the bowl and mix by hand to get it all well incorporated.

Form the meat mixture into patties, however big you want them. You could even put the mix through a sausage making machine into sausage casings.

Cook until no longer pink or wrap individually and freeze for later. Any sausage recipe is pretty forgiving, so definitely play around with it until you reach the perfect level of sweetness or spiciness for yourself.
