Going on a picnic is one of the most enjoyable activities of Spring and Summer. In Victorian days, picnics were very popular and enjoyed alongside weekend activities like croquet and canoeing.

Then and now, people look forward to picnic outings to eat refreshing, delicious food and get some much-needed fresh air. To inspire you and give you ideas for your meal, this hub provides a list of food items for a picnic with six different menu ideas.

These menus were meant to give you themes and ideas for your next picnic, but you need not be elaborate or invest a lot of time in planning them.

Picnics can be made with just about any food you have on hand, you simply need to improvise. Leftover meats from last night's dinner can easily be sliced and put onto bread. Potatoes or pasta make good salads with oil or mayonaisse. Fresh fruit like oranges or bananas can be quickly tossed into picnic baskets and bags.

    Thanks Cardisa. You can dip the apple, spread it, or place the peanut butter between two apple slices, like a sandwich.

    These are really good picnic ideas. I must confess the apple and peanut butter surprised me. Do you dip the apple in the peanut butter....I really am curious here.
