Food around the world

Updated on March 23, 2013

When it comes to food, I think that I am safe to say that we all have certain food that we would like to eat. It seems that every country has their own way of making food and what kind of food they like to eat. Here in the United States we have different types of food because of everyone that lives here. We have a mixture of cultures that many people have brought from the country that they are from.

Now when it comes to visiting other countries and eating their food, that can sometimes be a different situation. You may never know what kind of meat they used and from animal they got it from. I know that in some countries that they like eat lizards, insects, and snakes and other animals that I wouldn't want to even taste. In other areas they eat animals that we consider pets like dogs. Now, I know that if I were to go and visit one of these countries, I probably wouldn't eat alot of their food. Who would be brave enough to try one of these foods if they were to visit a country that served food that we didn't think we would like?

Have you ever tasted something that you didn't know what it was? Or are you more careful with what you eat and stick to something that you know? I have seen presentations of people who have eaten chocolate covered crickets or fried crickets, sometimes even cockroaches, which even thinking about that now makes me shake my head a bit because who would eat those annoying insects.

Now I'm sure most of the food is delicious around the world, it just matters what kind of food it is most of the time. Everyone has a different way of thinking when it comes to whether or not to eat food that they haven't eaten before. I guess what I would ask myself is, would I be willing to try something that I have never tasted before and from another country? In honesty, I would have to really think about it maybe for a long time. Would you be willing to try food from other countries and that isn't what you usually eat?
