The tomato is a very nutritious food. Besides its powerful content of lycopene, a hormone good for male urinary health, it is a fast source of Vitamin C, and carbohydrate that come in little sizes. There are grape size tomatoes, and cherry size tomatoes. They are great in salads, great in fruit salads, in lunchboxes for a snack food, and in sandwiches made of tuna, eggs, or with other sliced vegetables. Another fun way to eat these incredible little tasty treats is to dip them into melted cheese like fondue, or into flavored yogurt or seasoned creamed cheese.

Sometimes I have a breakfast meal with my wonderful housemates. They eat extremely nutritious every morning with whole grain oats, whole wheat breads, and occasional egg dishes including fresh vegetables. The consumption of fruits are usually at night, due to the stimulation of digestive enzymes in the stomach; that stimulates a healthy intestinal tract as well. Tomato is a fruit, but always served as a vegetable.

Children especially can enjoy little cherry tomatoes in their diet because of their size. My neighbor prepared a meal for his ten year old daughter by using the cherry tomatoes in a cheese and egg omelet, and we all laughed when we saw it looked like a face.

According to LiveStrong.com, five cherry tomatoes equal to twenty calories and four grams of carbohydrate per serving. Combining the tomatoes with other fun foods like cubes of cheese or with nuts or cheerios will give the young eaters a very nutritious snack daily.

The small nutritious snack is easy to pop into the mouth on the go for any busy adult. One could consider putting a little ziplock bag in the purse with a serving of cherry size or even grape size tomatoes. While in traffic, or waiting for an appointment or that late lunch hour, it proves to be an easy way of getting a quick curb to hunger.

Meals are more entertaining when appreciated for its color, its convenience and its taste. And if you enjoy tomatoes on a salad, you could possibly enjoy these little tomato treats in any balanced meal at any time of the day, even breakfast!
