My Selection Of Best Wine Gifts Under $25

Wine is a passion for many people, I know that for me just a good piece of freshly baked bread, a slice of good cheese and a glass of wine are just plain happiness. And I know I am not alone in finding happiness in a good glass of wine. Even in the old testament wine was an essential part of all parties and celebrations. Somehow wine personifies sensuality, inspiration and even life itself. Wine tasting requires all our senses: our sight, smell, hearing (for the noise of the wine in the glass) and of course, taste . So, if you have a friend who like me is a "wine fan" here I have selected the best low price yet high quality wine gifts for wine lovers. You will see that if you want to please a wine lover you don’t need to spend a fortune in fancy wine related gifts, most of the time a wine connoisseur will be happy with just the right utensils, like an effective wine chiller, a new set of wine glasses or a sturdy corkscrew. Wine lovers concentrate on the wine itself rather than in accessories but if you don’t know about wine and want to offer a gift to a wine lover, the safest bet is to go for something simple and useful.

So if you are looking for unique wine gift ideas have a look at my handpicked selection of gifts for wine lovers. If you are a wine lover and have an addition to this list, please add your item in my wish list.

Picnic Stix Set

No more spilled drinks with the Picnic Stix Set

"A larger stake is designed to keep a wine bottle steady while two other matching stakes are made to hold glasses."

Picnic Stix Set

I would love this picnic wine glass set!

Personally I hate drinking wine in a plastic glass. I think that it completely ruins the wine and the whole tasting experience, especially if drinking champagnes or red wines. The problem when going out on a picnic is that ordinarily you cannot take your wine glasses with you. However, with this picnic wine set you can finally take with you proper wine glasses to enjoy a romantic picnic without fear of dropping either the glasses or the bottle. Really it is the perfect wine holder for a successful picnic.

The set consists of three wine stakes –one for the bottle and two for the glasses. This picnic set is like having your own personal servant holding your glass steadily and ready for you. The picnic set also allows your wine to keep its temperature for longer periods of time as holding your glass on your hand would warm your wine too quickly. Having the wine glasses being held by the Picnic Stix will help maintain the temperature of chilled wines on warm summer days.

The Picnic Stix set is lightweight and portable. It will easily fit into any bag or picnic container. The set makes a great gift for outdoor enthusiasts and wine lovers everywhere. I can already see myself at the beach enjoying a glass of wine while sunbathing…

Guy Buffet Wine Chillers

Chills room-temperature wine bottles in 5 minutes and Keeps it cold for up to 3 hours

A Designer Wine Chiller.

Vacu Vin Guy Buffet Rapid Ice Wine Chiller, Sommeliers

For those occasions when one wants to cool down a bottle of wine in record time the Vacu Vin Guy Buffet rapid ice wine chiller is the perfect gift for wine lovers. The wine chiller stores in the freezer, like most reusable ice packs -just pull it out, slip it over the bottle and in 5 minutes your bottle will be ready to drink. Don’t forget that this is the recommended way by wine specialists to cool down a bottle of wine so it will be a perfect gift for a wine lover who knows the importance of drinking a wine at the right temperature.

A good temperature is essential to bring the aromas of a good wine, just as a mild warmth enhances the taste of some wines, a mild chilling -if properly done- develops the aroma of some other wines. Too often people drink white wines too cold because they chill them in their refrigerator where they get so cold that it sends to sleep a wine's aromatics limiting how much you can enjoy the wine. Chilling a bottle of wine in the refrigerator will decrease a bottle's temperature 4 to 5 degrees each half hour in the first 60-90 minutes. After that, temperatures will drop 2-3 degrees per half hour. A wine chiller allows for a shorter way to cool a bottle of wine as it will chill the wine about three times as fast plus, you will not forget your bottle in the refrigerator!

A white wine that is too cold will be flavourless, therefore the importance to correctly cool your wine. Also barbeque lovers will appreciate a wine chiller to bring a bottle of young red to the perfect drinking temperature during those hot summer days.

This easy to use wine chiller is beautifully decorated with a painting of overworked sommeliers by one of America’s most popular French artists, Guy Buffet; an artist with a long time experience in the world of restaurants and wines.

Preserve Your Wine For Later Enjoyment With A Wine Bottle Stopper

What is the best way to preserve an open bottle of wine? A Wine Sealer of course!

Once you open a bottle of wine, a combination of heat and oxygen develops a chemical reaction called oxidation. Initially, oxidation serves to bring up the flavour and aromas of a wine. However, if you leave an unfinished bottle of wine open to the air, the quality of the wine begins to degrade and, if left too long, it turns acidic and vinegary. That is the reason why having a good way to preserve an open bottle of wine is so important for wine enthusiasts. Wine sealers help slow this degrading process so if a bottle of wine is not finished in one sitting, it can be picked up later and still have most of its aromas and taste intact.

So, if you are looking for an inexpensive gift for a wine lover, I suggest you invest in one or a few wine sealers. Anyone who drinks wine regularly must have one of these gadgets. After all, who hasn’t been bothered by having an unfinished bottle of wine and not having a proper sealer that will not leak, and most important that will keep intact the quality of the wine?

This is the perfect inexpensive gift for those wine lovers who appreciate a good quality bottle of wine and know how hard is to put the original cork back into the bottleneck. Even more important, most wine enthusiasts will know that most of the time you cannot re-use a cork as the air will seep back in the wine if you had put your corkscrew all the way through the cork when you opened the bottle.

A good wine sealer can extend the life of a bottle of wine by several days after opening the bottle. A wine lover can never have too many wine sealers so you can be sure that your gift will be appreciated.

The Cilio Stainless Steel Wine Sealer is made of stainless steel and it is very easy to use. You only need to push it down on the bottle to create an airtight seal and do the same movement –push- to release it. This wine sealer would be a treat for a wine connoisseur as it is made by the fine German brand Cilio who specializes in high-quality products.

Wine Glasses

Most people think of wine glasses as tall rounded glasses, but wine lovers do differentiate wine glasses and use different types of glasses for different wines.

Each wine has something unique to offer to your senses and this is why wine glasses are specifically shaped to accentuate those defining characteristics. Just like Champagne is traditionally drunk in flutes, other wines also have a specially designed glass to bring out their best qualities.

Personally I like to drink my wine from a clear glass so I can fully appreciate its color and density, all those fancy colored or highly decorated glasses are nice to look at but are not really enjoyable when drinking a good wine. I also appreciate a large bowl where my wine can breathe and a long stem so I can hold it comfortably. However, a good set of wine glasses does not have to be expensive, for me an expensive glass would worry me as I would not want to accidentally break it and honestly, worrying about that takes the pleasure out of drinking a good wine. This is another reason why I think that a set of wine glasses is an excellent choice if you want to give a gift to a wine lover... we can never have too many glasses!

How to Use Different Wine Glasses

Wine Charms

Wine glass charms are small accessories that can be attached to the stem of a wine glass. Wine charms are perfect for identifying your glass in a busy table.

This is a good present for a girl as wine charms are especially popular with women in their 20's and 30's. For a girl’s night in I have selected the Trudeau Duo Tone Floral Wine Charms, Set of 12. Your girlfriends will be delighted with this set of charms in 12 colours and 4 floral shapes!

Another advantage of wine charms is that you can get them in all sort of colours and materials, you can even customize wine charms with your own designs and monograms. Wine charms also make a great gift for parties, weddings, and other special events. And if you are really creative and have plenty of time in your hands, you can even create your own wine charms from scratch.

Screwpull by Le Creuset Waiter's Corkscrew

A Corkscrew: Small enough to fit in a pocket comfortably. Waiter’s corkscrews are the standard tool of choice in restaurants and homes across the world.

You might think that a corkscrew is too simple a gift, but considering that for wine lovers a corkscrew is of great importance, you might want to consider this as a gift.

A good corkscrew is of vital importance for a good bottle of wine where the cork might be aged and very fragile or on the contrary, very sturdy to pull out. You need a corkscrew that is easier to use, fast to work and reliable like this Screwpull by Le Creuset made in elegant stainless steel. La Creuset is a French cookware manufacturer and for this Screwpull with an integrated foil cutter and bottle opener, the original design comes from the French Phillipe Coutale, a fifth generation winemaker who holds several patents for a series of ingenious and very functional, double-hinged corkscrews. They sell over 60,000 of them per year.

At less than 25$ this La Creuset Screwpull is a bargain that any wine enthusiast will love to have. This double-hinged corkscrew is the preferred wine opener used by wine experts.

I love wine charms. We have several sets; both purchased and made by our friends. I love it when our guests rush in to fill their glass and fight over their special charm. Great hub!

Gordon: I am delighted to read that I helped you. These are def. good presents for wine lovers, and the most important thing is that they are within a reasonable budget. I know that I have a few corkscrews but they always seem to dissapear or "hide themselves" so it is always handy to have an extra corkscrew. As for the wine glasses, I break so many at the washing that for me a new set of glasses is always a welcome gift.

      Thanks for the vote up.

Princessa - thank you! I love the Hub and wine but above all, you have just solved a huge annual problem for me (for this year at least) in deciding what to get my brother for Christmas. He is one of those people that seems to have everything he wants and not want anything he doesn't have but he loves wine and there are a definite few items here that so far as I know he doesn't have. A very big vote up! :)
