Quick Gram flour pancake (besan dosa)

Cooking time 15 minutes

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • besan ( gram flour) 2 cups
  • Turmeric 1/ 2 tsp
  • Rice Flour 1/ 2 cup
  • Plain yogurt 1/ 2 cup
  • Sophie ( Semolina) 3 tsp
  • Salt as per taste
  • Ginger garlic paste 1tsp
  • Carom seeds ( ajwain) 1 /2 tsp
  • Water 2 cups
  • Onion 1 cup chopped (spring onions will be better)
  • Chili as per taste
  • Cilantro to garnish
  • Baking soda 1/ 4 tsp
  • Oil 3 tsp

Preparation

  1. Except oil, onions and baking soda mix all the ingredients together. Make sure that there are no lumps.
  2. Take a skillet and heat it on gas.
  3. Put oil in it for pan frying.
  4. Once the oil is hot, mix baking soda in the mixture.
  5. Make a batter and spread a thin layer of the pancake in the skillet.
  6. Add onions.
  7. Cook till the layer on the skillet changes color.
  8. Then sprinkle some oil and flip the pancake..
  9. Allow it to cook for some time.
  10. Remove once it is cooked.
  11. Serve hot with yogurt or pickle.

      Dear Ghaelach, thanks for the encouragement.Do you have any Asian store at your locality? Some ingredients are easy to find but for gram flour powder maybe you will have to find an Asian store.

      Hello DIPSMI.

      If i can get hold of all the ingredents i've got to try this.

      As an English man i grew up with curry, naan bread and lot of other Indian foods, but now living in Germany so i don't get the chance to eat very much of it now.
