A Secret Recipe For Barbecue Sauce

Updated on December 16, 2017

I Know What You Are Thinking....

You might be wondering why there is a photo of a duck at the top of a barbecue sauce recipe. I can tell you with certainty that it is a secret, just like this sauce. Try it. Save it. But tell no one!

  1. 1/2 stick of butter
  2. 2 onions
  3. 2 cups of ketchup
  4. 2 cups of brown sugar
  5. 1 cup of mustard
  6. 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  7. 4 tablespoons of Worcestershire
  8. Optional: Add your favorite hot sauce

Dice the onions and cook in a frying pan with the butter until the onions are soft. Toss in the rest of the ingredients and let it heat for 20 minutes. You are welcome society. Seriously though, please enjoy and comment if you added your own ingredients!

This recipe has been in my family for years. As a traveler, I am often asked to cook something when I live and visit foreign countries. I am not much of a cook, but this is my goto recipe when I'm put on the spot. It has a very sweet taste with a nice kick from the lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce. If it is too sweet you can reduce the amount of sugar or add some hot sauce. I find it easy to make and can be applied to a variety of food types.
