Greek salad with low fat dressing

Updated on May 30, 2011

There are many different types of salads in Greek cuisine but by far the most popular is what is typically known as "Greek salad".  It is a traditional salad made with key ingredients like tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber, red onion, lemon, kalamata olives, feta cheese.  Like I mentioned there are many varations to this recipe and here is one I really like.

Romaine lettuce

3 tomatoes cut into wedges

1/2 cucumber sliced

1/2 red onion sliced into rings

1/2 green pepper sliced

140 grams of feta cheese

12 kalamata olives

1/4 cup lemon juice

4 tbsp olive oil

1/2 tbsp dried oregano

salt and pepper

Place all the ingredients for the dressing in a jar and shake so that all the ingredients are combined.  Place all the ingredients for the salad into a big bowl.  Just before serving pour the dressing over the salad and gently toss.  Can be garinshed with fresh ground black pepper and a little dried oregano.
