How about something just a bit different from the regular grilled cheese sandwich...Most children and adults love to eat grilled cheese..with tomato soup or any kind of soup, split pea, vegetable, chicken noodle...is fun to dip a crisp grilled sanwich into it and enjoy...

I have a few different ones to suggest...

Using a whole grain bread or a whole grain french bread...

cheeses of your choice..brie, cheddar , american, swiss, jack, cream cheese ,provolone any kind you like will work...

so I like to add say... thin sliced ham and an egg (cooked)

canadian bacon

thinly sliced salami

prosciutto

turkey

chicken

any kind of meats you like all add to the flavor and enjoyment...

Also don't forget the fruits and vegetables that go well with cheese

Sliced green apples

sliced tomato's

cucumbers

lettuce

pickles

green olives

avocado's

bell peppers

You get the point a grilled sandwich doesn't have to be plain you can dress it up and make a meal out of it along with that bowl of soup.

I like to use a hot cast iron pan and spread butter on the bread, but mayo works also and so does olive oil...

Just a reminder to be always looking for a different way to cook and bring interest to your Grilled Cheese sandwich...:O) Hugs

I never thought about actually adding apples to the grilled cheese sandwich. Generally eat them on the side. Will give it a try! Thanks!

Mouth-watering, even for a vegetarian like me. Long time since I had the stuff last. Should tuck into it soon.

Ever actually feel like a sandwich??? you know stuck between two pieces of something, melting you away and then just sitting there getting burned??? We can always add things to make it better...but if somehow we are forgotten we just manage to get melted...and burned and then forgotten...Hummmm I hope you can fill the empty feeling my sweet Man...Hugs G-Ma :O) and Peace

I love these ideas to add to the grilled cheese sandwich, especially the fruits and vegetables which I hadn't thought of besides the tomato. I also add mozzarella cheese to my tomato soup, yum! Thanks G-Ma, Hugs!
