Hamburger Cornbread Casserole Recipe

Here is one of the best Hamburger Cornbread Casseroles you will ever taste. I love cornbread and I'm always looking for new things to do with cornbread and hamburger. In this casserole which is so delicious you have the hamburger, cornbread, beans, and sweet onion plus a lot of other delicious ingredients.

If your a lamb fan like me try making this casserole with ground lamb instead of beef and add a eight ounce package of Feta cheese to the lamb mixture when you put it into the baking pan. This casserole made with lamb and Feta Cheese is oh so delicious.

You will want to make your Hamburger Cornbread Casserole in a 13" X 9" baking pan and it will turn out better if you spray your baking pan with vegetable cooking spray before you put your ingredients into the baking pan.

I use regular ground beef for casseroles like this and it always works out great. In this recipe we are going to brown our hamburger before we put the casserole together so you'll end up with wonderfully delicious casserole that will have people begging you for more.

For Your Hamburger Cornbread Casserole You Will Need.

1. One Pound Ground Beef.

2. One Medium Sweet Onion Diced Fine.

3. One Can Red Kidney Beans Drained And Washed.

4. One 15 Ounce Can Diced Tomatoes.

5. One Four Ounce Can Green Chilies.

6. One Teaspoon Chili Powder.

7. One Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce.

Be sure that you chop your onion up very fine so that it will cook up right. The four ounce can of chile's gives this casserole a wonderful flavor. And if you have other favorite ingredients why not try adding them to the casserole. I promise you that you'll love it.

For Your Topping You Will Need.

1. One Half Cup Self Rising Cornmeal.

2. One Half Cup Self Rising Flour.

3. Two Eggs Well Beaten.

4. One Half Cup Buttermilk.

5. One Tablespoon Vegetable Oil.

You will want to start by cooking your hamburger meat and your onion until the hamburger is brown and the onion is done and tender. Drain your hamburger and onion well and then add your beans, chili's, tomatoes, chili powder and the Worcestershire sauce. Reduce to a simmer and let your hamburger mixture cook for about thirty minutes.

Pour your hamburger mixture ingredients out into a 13" X 9" pan and set to the side. At the same time have your oven heating up to 400 degrees.

Mix all your topping ingredients together being sure to have all your ingredients very well mixed together and then pour the topping mixture out onto the top of the hamburger mixture already in the pan.

You will then want to put your casserole in the oven and bake for 15 - 18 minutes until your mixture is bubbly and a toothpick inserted into the cornbread topping comes out clean. This is one of the best Hamburger Cornbread Casseroles that I have ever tasted and if you follow the directions carefully you'll have one of the most delicious casseroles you'll ever taste.

I love casseroles and I like any casserole that is easy to make and turns out perfect every time.I like to serve this casserole with a spinach salad.
