Healthy Home Made Granola Squares

2 c quick cooking oats

1 c flour

1/2 c brown sugar

1/2 c wheat germ

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 c chopped pecans or other nuts such as almonds

3/4 c applesauce

1/3 c honey

1 egg

2 tsp vanilla extract


Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line 9" X 13" pan with foil. Spray bottom and slides with non-stick cooking spray.

In a large bowl, combine oats, flour, dried fruit, salt, wheat germ, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nuts. In a smaller bowl, mix oil, egg, honey and vanilla. Pour the liquid mixture over dry ingredients and toss until evenly coated. Press into the pan and bake for 25 to 30 mins. Cool completely, then turn out onto cutting board and slice into squares.

Optional Add-Ins

Add dried fruit, dark chocolate chips, or other nuts.
