BLT Salad

Today I want to share with you a salad made with hickory smoked bacon, not only is it very tasty but still healthy for you also I know people say that bacon is healthy but trust me when I ay that a few slices won't hurt you......in face 3 slices of bacon has about 150 calories that's less than a a glaze or chocolate donut, So stop worrying about the guilt and follow me on this salad making journey.

Hickory Smoked BLT Salad

Ingredients

8 ounces hickory-smoked bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces

4 cups torn romaine lettuce

1 cup cherry tomatoes, Whole or halved

1/2 cup bottled ranch salad dressing

1/2 to 1 teaspoon Montreal steak seasoning.

1. In a 10-inch skillet, cook bacon until almost crisp. Remove bacon from skillet, discard fat. Drain bacon on paper towels. Set aside.

2. In a large salad bowl, combine romaine, tomatoes and bacon. In a small bowl, combine ranch salad dressing and steak seasoning. Drizzle dressing over salad; gentle toss to coat. Add croutons. Serve immediately. Makes 4 to 6 side-dish servings.

Homemade Croutons: Spread 2 cups cubed french bread in a single layer in a shallow baking dish. Stir together 2 tablespoon olive oil, 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper and 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt (optional); pour over bread cubes; toss. Bake in 250 oven 10 minutes. Stir, baked 8 to 10 minutes more, or until crisp and brown.

Tips For Cooking Bacon

Methods on cooking bacon

If cooking bacon in the oven, place bacon side by side on a rack in a shallow sided cookie sheet bake th bacon at 400 degrees 15 -20 minutes or until crisp

If cookie bacon in a microwave using a microwave safe plate lined with paper towels, cook 2 slices of bacon in the microwave for 2-3 minutes for 4 slices it will take 3-5 minutes

and 6 slices 5-6 minutes.

      I love bacon but don't eat it very often because of the reputation it has, but it sure is good!! This salad is one I must try! Thanks for sharing.

      I was thinking of all the sulfates in bacon but there is organic bacon available without sulfates.

      That so true there a plenty of ways to get some good bacon without sulfates in them and organic is one of the ways thanks for the reply.
