Home Made Buttermilk Biscuits for Thanksgiving

Nothing says Thanksgiving like the smell of home made buttermilk biscuits. This is definitely worth the extra time and money to add to your Thanksgiving table. I have already showed you how to cut spending on the Thanksgiving Ham and Sweet Potato Casserole but the Buttermilk Biscuits can't be passed over.

I couldn't remember the recipe for the life of me this morning so I looked up other recipes and when I reviewed the other recipes sure enough I remember our family recipe. It is amazing how similar they are. But I guess a good buttermilk recipe never goes out of style for the Thanksgiving Holiday.


Ingredients

2- cups of flour

1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

1 1/2 tablespoons of baking powder

5 tablespoons of soft butter

1 1/4 cups of buttermilk

Mix all the ingredients in the bowls with the buttermilk being the last ingredient. Add a pinch of salt to taste.

Baking

I then place the biscuits on parchment paper and bake at 375 degrees for about 25 minutes or until slightly brown on top. Cooking times will vary based on oven and altitudes. If you are uncertain when the biscuits are done stick a tooth pick in them and if the tooth pick comes out clean hey are fully cooked.

So this is my own wonderful family recipe for buttermilk biscuits. I hope you enhjoy them at Thanksgiving with your family.
