DIY Soup Seasoning Herb Mix

Get the jump on a pot of soup by making your own seasoning mix. Whether you want chowder, bouillabaise, hearty lentil stew, french onion or minestrone, there's a spice blend that cuts down prep time and boosts flavor big time. Use dried herbs to create soup seasoning, and store them in a dark cupboard. For best flavor, use within six months by adding the contents on a single-serving spice mix to your soup.

Homemade Vegetarian Soup Mix Ideas

Combine equal parts dried sage, bay leaves and parsley for a bean soup seasoning. Mix 1 tsp. of each in a spice bag, and add a few white peppercorns for zest.

Mix up 1 tsp. each of bay leaves, parsley and marjoram to flavor tomato-based soups and cream soups, like chowders and vegetable cream soups. Add black pepper and salt to taste later, for a kick.
