French toast is one of my favorite things to eat it has great flavor and is really easy to prepare when I first started cooking this was one of my poor mans meals because bread and eggs were real cheap then.

French Toast

You can make french toast in the conventional way, dipping the whole slice of bread in the egg-white milk batter, or you can break the bread into little pieces to expose more surface to the batter, you can serve french toast with applesauce or other sweet fruit toppings and a prinkle of cinnamon. Nonfat yogurt or sour cream are also good accompaniments.

The Batter

1 egg white, fork-beaten

1 1/2 tablespoons of nonfat milk or canned evaporated milk

1/2 tablespoon frozen apple-juice concentrate ( optional )

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

2 slices regular or whole wheat bread ( acceptable kind ), or 1 1/2 slices broken pieces

Beat together the batter ingredients. Dip the bread ( or bread pieces ) into the mixture, allowing it to soak briefly; then soak the other side, place a nonstick skillet over moderate heat until a few drops of water ''dance'' over the surface. Cook the bread on the skillet for about 2-3 minutes or until lightly browned; then turn and brown the other side.

This recipe is really a gret tasting treat for you to try, plus it is quick and easy to prepare so enjoy.
