Honey Chili Potato

Steps for preparations on Potato

  1. Select some long potatoes. Peel them and cut them into medium sized slices.
  2. Keep the sliced potatoes in saline water for 15 minutes.
  3. Drain the potatoes from water properly.
  4. Take some corn flour in a plate, enough to form a light coating on your sliced potatoes. Add salt and red chilly powder according to your taste. Salt and chilly powder can be added in sufficiently good quantities. Like for 4 big potatoes, 1 table-spoon of salt and 2 table-spoon of chilly powder can be added.
  5. Pour the potato slices into the mixture. Roll the slices properly in the mixture to ensure proper coating.
  6. Put oil to heat in a frying pan. Then fry the coated slices in the oil. Deep fry them on high heat otherwise potatoes won’t be crispy.

Tip: You can also double fry the potato slices to make them crispier.

Caution: Don’t keep standing the potato slices for marinating, fry them immediately. Fry few slices at a time to allow them to get fried properly. And drain the oil properly before taking them out of the pan.

Steps for making of Gravy

(Quantity of gravy can be prepared according the preferences of the person for the same amount of potatoes)

  1. Cut all the veggies as follows. Slit-cut the green chillies. Finely chop or grind the ginger and garlic. Cut the tomatoes into small pieces. We need 1-2 small tomatoes for making the dish with 4 large potatoes. Also finely chop the cabbage. Cut some bell peppers into large pieces. You can also keep some necks of spring onions chopped.

Caution: All vegetables have to be kept separately.

  1. Put oil to heat on frying pan to make gravy. We don’t need much oil. 2-4 spoons according to the quantity of the gravy you want to make, will be sufficed.
  2. On oil being heated put ginger and garlic and fry them until they get brown. Then put chilly, onion, spring onion and tomato in order after short intervals of continuous frying. Then add bell-peppers.
  3. Then add salt and red chilly powder according to your taste. Ignore the salt and chilly powder added while making preparations on potatoes while adding these now.
  4. Add tomato ketchup and chilly sauce to the gravy. Add 1-2 table-spoons of soya sauce and vinegar to the gravy respectively according to the quantity of gravy prepared. Fry the gravy for 1-2 minutes then turn of the gas and cover the gravy for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Uncover the gravy and add chopped cabbage to it and mix it.

Serving

Put the fried potato slices into the gravy and pour honey according to taste on top of it. Utmost 5 table-spoon of honey should be poured for a preparation with 4 potatoes otherwise it will be too much sweet. Serve hot after topping it with sesame seeds.
