How To Cook Sweet Potatoes

Hot from the oven sweet potatoes split open and served with butter and brown sugar are one of my fondest childhood memories. In order to prepare the very best baked sweet potatoes you need to coat each sweet potato well with vegetable cooking oil. Then bake your sweet potatoes on a baking sheet in a 400 degree preheated oven until you can touch them and they are soft to the touch.

HINT You may want to cut each end ( about 1/2 inch ) off each end of every sweet potato. And be sure to bake your sweet potatoes on a baking sheet in case any juices start to run out.

Here's a delicious way to serve your sweet potatoes.

Once you take them out of the oven mix the below and serve a large tablespoon in each baked sweet potato.

1. 1/2 Cup Of Butter At Room Temperature so its soft and able to be worked with.

2. 1/4 Cup Of Brown Sugar

Mix together in you food processor or blender and mix it very well. Serve a large tablespoon full inside each split sweet potato for a great sweet treat that everyone loves.

You really can cook sweet potatoes almost exactly how you would regular potatoes. And here is a really delicious recipe for mashed sweet potatoes that everyone loves. You can serve these in place of your candied yams and I guarantee you that your family and friends will be asking you to make them again.

You will want to peel your sweet potatoes and cut them up into 1 inch cubes. Put them into a pot , cover with water and boil until done. They are done when you can easily mash them with a fork. Drain them well and then mash with your potato masher. Once you have them well mashed pour out into a bowl. And add the below to your mashed sweet potatoes.

1. 2 Pounds of Peeled and Cubed Sweet Potatoes Cooked By Above Directions.

2. 2 Tablespoons Butter.

3. 2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract.

4. 1 Teaspoon Ground Ginger.

5. 1 Teaspoon Salt.

6. 1 Teaspoon Thyme Leaves.

7. 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon.

Mix all your ingredients together well and taste. This is one of the best recipes for mashed sweet potatoes that I have ever tasted. And once you taste them I think you'll agree that they are some of the best mashed sweet potatoes ever.

Hi there, I just started a blog about clean, healthy eating and how easy it is to incorporate into everyone's lifestyle. These recipes represent that mindset very well, and should definitely help people to eat a LOT healthier.

If you wouldn't mind, could I link this page at the end of my sweet potato article? That would be amazing.
