How To Make A Perfect Cup Of Milk Tea

Updated on April 30, 2014

Most of the people outside India prefer to have a cup of tea without milk. But in India, we usually prefer our chai with milk in it. Here's how I prepare my cup of tea. Please note that this is not a page on how to make Masala Chai which requires few more ingredients. This is just a simple How-To for beginners who have just ventured into making their own food and drinks. If you're looking for a simple recipe -- this is as simple as it gets! Enjoy!

For Making 1 Cup of Milk Tea, You Will Need...

1 glass of water (tap water will also do)

1 tsp of tea powder

1 tsp of milk powder

Sugar as needed

How To Make Chai

1. Put water to boil.

2. When water almost starts boiling, put a teaspoon of tea powder. You can add more teaspoons if you want your tea strong!

3. After water reaches boiling point, put down the flame.

4. Keep for 2-3 minutes.

5. In a glass add 1 teaspoon of milk powder plus sugar as needed. I usually like my tea very sweet, so I add about 2 teaspoons of sugar.

6. Pour the mixture of coffee plus hot water into this glass through a strainer.

.... And your hot milk tea is ready!

Appreciate your ethnic knowledge. Before I began reading, I though I was going to find out how I've made tea, using milk with it; didn't think about chai. Thank you--I'll have to try it myself and hope it turns out half as good as I've had away from home and half as easy as you make it sound--
