Instructions: How to Make Southern Style Chicken and Dumplings

This is one of my favorite recipes, It tastes very good and its very healthy, its easy to make and will make a lot if you have a larger family. This also makes great left overs as well. This Recipe will feed 5-8 people and if you cut the portions in half with will feed 2-4.

  • (Prepare the Biscuits First) See Above.
  • Ok now you will need to get your Stock pot and Put anywhere from 2 to 4 small cans of Chicken broth. Or one large box of chicken broth size 32 oz. Put this inside of the stalk pot and fill the stock pot 3/4 of the way with the rest water. I use clean bottled water for my cooking.
  • Next, Turn the heat On to Medium high, getting your water and canned broth mixture to a nice simmer boil, but not to much to burn.
  • Next take your two cans of chicken and open them up and put into your broth mixture.
  • ( I buy the White Tyson Canned Chicken in the largest Can. ( costs about 2 dollars.) Now Optional, you can take a whole chicken and boil it to fully cooked and debone the chicken if you like light and dark meat.)
  • Next I take Minced Garlic. You can mince your own garlic, or buy an already minced garlic. Garlic is very beneficial for your health.
  • Next I take a teaspoon of Tumeric and put this in there. It will give it a yellow tainted look to your broth. Tumeric is very very beneficial to your health. ( supposedly heals tumors)
  • Next, I take about Two Tablespoons of Parsley ( parsley is a great cleansing herb for your kidneys)
  • Next, once your simmer is to a nice low boil, the biscuits are now ready to add (once you have them prepared)
  • Now I make sure this comes to a boil before I start inserting the biscuits.. YUM YUM :)
  • Now its time to add these little critters, this is the fun part to me. lol While the broth is at its boil stage, just add one of the strips of biscuits in at a time to make sure they do not stick. You can do this relatively fast as well .. just separating each one. They will kinda blow up and then after cooked for a while it will go down.
  • After this let this cook for about an forty five minutes to an hour and low heat and stir occasionally. (make sure the bottom does not burn)
  • When the biscuits (dumplings) are done they are more of a see through color, which let's you know its Time to Eat :)
  • Every time I make this recipe, everyone Loves it! Enjoy!!

Optional Items to put into your Chicken and Dumplings

  • Cut up fresh Celery and put into broth.
  • shred some carrots and add to the broth.
  • Mince boiled eggs and put into broth.
  • Install Peas into broth
  • salt and pepper (or red pepper) to taste

I hope you Enjoyed this recipe! This is a Wonderful recipe for a big family, it is also great when you are sick and a great option verses chicken noodle soup. It has alot of beneficial properties for healing the body. This recipe can be cut in half for smaller families as well.

Please let Me know how yours turned out and I hope you enjoyed this!

MMMMmm.. This is Good!
