How To Make Easy Homemade Rice A Roni
Rice Goes With Everything, Why Not Kick It Up A Bit.
Here is a very simple recipe for Rice A Roni, which I made up on the spur of the moment one day. And I have been making it ever since. I know that you can buy Rice A Roni from a box mix, and that is fine to. My recipe does not involve frying it on the stove though. And it can be made in under 30 minutes, using instant white rice, and dry chicken noodle soup mix. Everyone that has eaten really liked it, and even had seconds.It is also a wonderful change of pace from plain old white rice. This rice is also kid friendly! So onto the recipe.
** 1 medium onion, peeled and diced
** 6 fresh mushrooms, caps removed and sliced, and cut into chunks. ( can use canned mushrooms)
** 1 envelope of dry chicken noodle soup mix ( the cup a soup kind)
** 1 cup of chicken broth
** 2 cups of water
** 3 cups of instant white rice ( brown rice if desired)
** dried basil flakes, about a teaspoon
** 1 teaspoon garlic powder
** pepper to taste.
In a medium sized pot, heat some olive oil, add the onions and mushrooms. Saute them until soft. Then add the 2 cups of water and the one cup of chicken broth, then add the dry chicken noodle soup mix. Stir and bring it to a boil, next add the instant rice, along with the basil and pepper, garlic powder, just stir and cover with a lid. let it sit for about 5 minutes or so. Then just stir and serve . This recipe will serve 10. Of course you can cut the recipe down if you need to. Just follow the directions on the back of the rice box. The amount I made was for my residents at my job, where I am a cook.
