Sage & Onion Vegetarian Gravy Recipe

So the other day I decided to try and make a vegetarian gravy and it turned out pretty well so I thought I would share it. It is great for vegetarians who still want to have gravy on their boiled/roasted vegetables. I am guessing that most gravy's that you purchase in the supermarket are not vegetarian. This recipe is very basic and will take less than 10 minutes to prepare. It is also very delicious.. The ingredients which you will need are 2 tablespoons of butter, 2 tablespoons of flour, dried or fresh sage, 1 cup of vegetable stock or 1 vegetable stock cube dissolved in a cup of water and 1/2 an onion chopped finely. I have also recorded a video which you can find below which shows you step by step how to make this delicious recipe.

Veggie Gravy

Yields: Serves 2-3 People

Veggie Gravy Instructions

  1. The first step is to chop your onion very finely
  2. Now place 2 tablespoons of butter in a pot or pan on medium heat and add your finely chopped onion and saute for around 5 minutes.
  3. Now it is time to add your 2 tablespoons of flour to the onions and butter and stir well so that it is evenly dispersed.
  4. Add your cup of vegetable stock or 1 vegetable stock cube and a cup of water and continue mixing until it thickens up.
  5. Now if you would like you can add a little milk or cream to the gravy or a little more water if it has thickened up too much.

So that is pretty much it. As you can see it is very easy to make and tastes amazing. It is great to serve with roasted vegetables and boiled vegetables to give them a little more flavor. Even eating a plate of broccoli tastes amazing served with this gravy! As I said before I have included a link to my video below which shows you how to make this vegetarian gravy recipe.. If you want to see more don't forget to subscribe I will be uploading videos every week.
