How You Can Avoid Holiday Weight Gain
Everyone looks forward to the holidays. We love the parties, family gatherings, and all the great food. People are in a great mood. It's easy to let loose and slack on our healthy diets. What we don't look forward to is the point when we realize we have somehow gained 10 pounds and thrown away all of our hard work over the last several months. If this has happened to you, and you don't want it to happen again, don't despair; the following tips can help you enjoy the holidays without totally blowing your diet.
Protein for Breakfast
Whatever you do, don't skip breakfast. You need to get a good start to your day, and protein is your best bet. A breakfast high in protein will give you plenty of energy and keep you feeling full longer, which means less snacking. You should also try to add flaxseed oil into your diet. Because this supplement works to help stabilize your blood sugar, it will also help to eliminate those cravings for sweets that tempt you.
Enlist a Friend
One of the best ways to stay motivated is to have a friend workout with you. When one of you is just not feeling it, the other can help you push on and keep to the plan. Maybe there's no one available to workout with. That doesn't mean this strategy won't work for you. You can enlist someone to be your support system. Someone you already talk to everyday would be great for this because they can gently urge you to keep it up just by casually asking how your workout went today.
This is crucial. No matter what happens you need to keep an upbeat, positive attitude. If you miss a workout, or even a few workouts, you need to make sure you don't get down on yourself. You can always start back the very next day and go from there.
