How to Make Chocolate-Covered Bacon

Updated on February 9, 2014
Absolutely delicious!!
Absolutely delicious!!

Yep, you read it right...I said Chocolate-Covered Bacon. If you've been to any state fairs you have probably already tried it and discovered that it is actually delicious! While, I can't think of another dish in which chocolate and bacon would be, I do salute whoever came up with this concoction. Don't knock it until you've tried it.

How to do it!

The first thing you have to do is to go and buy a pound or so of your favorite bacon. I won't tell you a specific bacon to buy because, let's face it, we all like something different in bacon. Get your favorite and fry it up in a pan as flat as possible. You might want to invest in one of those bacon presses that you lay on top of the bacon to keep it flat. After it is cooked, place it between two paper towels to absorb all of the extra grease.

Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave or in a pan, but melt them SLOWLY.

After the bacon has cooled, dip each piece into the chocolate and place it on a sheet of wax paper until it hardens.

There are all kinds of things you could sprinkle on top of the chocolate before it hardens, so be creative, but make sure it's something that goes well with chocolate...and bacon.

Be Creative!!

These are the things you'll need:

  • Your favorite bacon
  • Chocolate chips
  • Bacon (or burger) press
  • Paper Towels
  • Wax Paper

Buy the best bacon you can - the one that is a favorite to you.

  • Buy milk chocolate chips (you can use dark chocolate but I don't like it personally).

  • Serve Chocolate-Covered Bacon at a party and watch the ooohs and ahhhs. They really are quite good, but your guests might think you're a bit wacky.

I've had chicken fried bacon before, but never chocolate covered bacon. I'll have to give it a try. Very interesting hub.

I was looking for this. I love chocolate covered bacon. I thought it would be a bit more complicated to prepare. Off to the store!

I feel wacky just reading this! Who woulda thunk? I've never seen chocolate-covered bacon (probably been going to the wrong state fairs), and I don't know if I'll even try it. I'll consult first with my daughter...if she gives the thumb's up, we'll do it!
