This Thanksgiving recipe makes a very nice Southern-style side dish.

  • 4 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1 Jalapeno, Diced
  • 1 Onion, Sliced
  • 3 Cups Whole Milk
  • 3 Cups Sweet Corn
  • 5 Large Eggs
  • 1 Cup Cream Corn
  • 1 Tablespoon Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Pepper

Step-By-Step Instructions and Images for Making Sweet Corn Spoonbread

  1. At first, preheat oven to 400 degrees. After that apply butter on large baking tray. Next, dissolve melt butter over medium to high flame.
  2. Later, add jalapeno and onion then season it with pepper and salt. After that cook it for 5 minutes until onion becomes soft.
  3. Next, add corn, cream corn and milk and cook it for around 3 minutes until the milk is very hot. (Ensure that milk is hot but not boiling).
  4. Now, stir it constantly for 3 minutes until mixture is properly thick. After that Expel let it cool for 5 to 10 minutes and then add egg yolks in it.
  5. Now take a large bowl and mix egg whites until soft peaks form. Later, fold into corn mixture and then fill into a baking tray.
  6. Now bake spoon bread for 25 to 30 minutes until it becomes brown on top and make sure you rotate the tray halfway through.
