How to make a FAST health smoothie

Updated on November 27, 2011

Being a sort of health nut myself I had always wondered what a spinach smoothie would taste like. Previous, I often frowned upon the "healthy people" chugging down their veggies in a drink. I was healthy but I wasn't "that healthy." At least not enough to go blending up carrots and things. I ended up trying it and loving it. I will have to admit that it takes a little getting used to at first (it's no Jamba Juice that's for sure). However, after the first month of a daily morning spinach smoothie it went from funky and weird to not so bad. After that and a little experimenting, I was ADDICTED! It may seem weird at first but STICK with it. Once you get the hang of blending and knowing what YOU like, you can tweak my simple(very simple) little recipe to get a better flavor. The reason this recipe is so simple is because I need to go FAST in the morning. This will take you less than 5 MINUTES to prepare. It feels good to be getting all of my FIBER and VEGETABLES and FRUIT over with in one big GULP.

Put it in the blender in this order

3 cups frozen fruit(I buy big bags of the mixes of frozen fruit at costco, sometimes all strawberry, but my favorite is frozen mango) for your first smoothie i really recommend frozen mango chunks because it tastes the best

1 large banana

loads of BABY spinach (as much as you think you can handle, increase as time goes on and you get used to it)

water...i use quite a bit because i like my smoothie thinner (it blends faster the more water you have)

Feel free to replace about a cup of frozen fruit with any kind of fresh fruit (the sweeter the better if you are looking for taste, also avoid apples and look for more "creamy" fruits (like papaya<--really good) or watery ones (like oranges<--also really good) don't use too much fresh fruit though because even if the fruit is refrigerated, it will make your smoothie get warmer...
