Baked Ziti

My name is Lisa, I have written a few hubs here on hubpages and I really enjoy sharing recipes. Now that I have found Pinterest It seems that there is a recipe for everything there. I believe its a great place to share but still like sharing here so I will continue to do so. So we have many favorite recipes in our home. With my oldest child not eating meat it becomes more and more difficult by the day to play the what is for dinner game as I call it. What do you want? I don't know what ever you make is good. O.k. how about hamburgers ewww no, how about spaghetti? ewwww no, how about pot roast ewww no!!!! this game gets very old and as a mother I know that most families go through this battle. So when I first started writing hub pages I thought I will find out everyone in the households favorites and start there. So now we came to Baked Ziti. This is my oldest's favorite like I mentioned earlier she does not eat meat so this is something she can really enjoy. Usually when I make this meal I will either make a very small amount just for her and make something else for the rest of the gang or I make two trays one with out meat and one with meat. Sometimes I go for meat sauce and sometimes I make meat balls with this. I like to add Italian sausage to this as well. I have one photo I can include that shows with out meat. I will show you in detail how I make this tasty meal.

Baked Ziti

  • 1 box ziti
  • 3/4 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup Italian blend, shredded
  • 1-1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 2 jars Spaghetti sauce, francesco rinaldis onion garlic is my preference
  • 2 cloves garlic cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, can add more to taste
  • 1/2 cup green pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • a few sprinkles oregano
  • a few sprinkles salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, can add more to taste
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 medium size sausages italian sausage, sweet or mild your preference
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

cooking instructions

start with your sauce, add onions, green peppers and garlic, add a drop of olive oil, add your dry seasonings and simmer.

Brown your ground beef and boil your sausage. In the ground beef you will want to add onions and green pepper and garlic and also your dry seasonings; when meats are done chop well and add to the sauce and simmer

boil your ziti noodles make sure you make them al dente( slightly hard)

after noodles are boiled drain well and put in the pan you will use to bake and add in sauce ricotta cheese and a few sprinkles of shredded cheeses

mix well

on top add remaining sauce and sprinkle on remaining shredded cheese bake on 350 for about 20 minutes or so until all cheese is melted and slightly golden brown.

Serve with a nice salad and garlic knots or what ever is your favorite, ENJOY

Please let us know how yours came out!!!!

Thank you I am glad it will be helpful for your friend. I hope you enjoy it. That non meat eater of the family sure can be tricky.
