Delicious Pot Roast

Hi My name is Lisa and one of my favorite meals to make when the whole family will be together is a pot roast. Mostly everyone likes(except my oldest who does not eat red meat) I really like to make this when Grandpa is coming over.Since this is one of his favorite meals I try to oblige.

Over the years I have changed the way I make it. I used to be really boring and just brown my meat and add a packet of onion soup mix and throw it in the crock pot. All though this is a very simple way to make it and it tastes pretty good. I now know you need to do a little more and the taste will be so much better.

Pot Roast

Cook Time

Prep time: 20 min
Cook time: 2 hours 30 min
Ready in: 2 hours 50 min
Yields: a large roast serves 4-6

  • Roast, Brisket / your choice cut
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 onion
  • 1/2 green pepper
  • 1 can Coke
  • 1 Carrot
  • 5 potatoes, peeled and chopped in half
  • 2 cubes beef bullion
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • pepper
  • season salt
  • 1/2 small can tomato sauce
  • water

Lets get started

  1. take your roast and wash it off in the sink to rinse away any bacteria
  2. Put Roast in frying pan on med high temperature and brown all sides
  3. season roast with all dry seasonings, except the beef boulion and the onion soup mix
  4. Once roast is browned transfer to a 5 quart pot
  5. now add your onions, peppers, carrots and potatoes
  6. now add your can of coke and add your onion soup mix and beef boulion I usually crush it before I put it in
  7. add 1/2 can tomato sauce
  8. add a little water to make sure that roast is covered completely
  9. make sure that you are cooking on a medium low like on an electric stove about 4-5 once the liquid starts boiling go ahead and lower it to about 2-3 so it stays at a slow light boil while covered
  10. every once in a while go ahead and turn the roast and move around the veggies to make sure everything is cooking properly
  11. When meat is tender and no longer pink it will be done you may cook a little longer or shorter depending on if you like your meat a little hard or a little longer if you like it to fall apart
