How to make a perfect cheese burger

Ingredients matter!

For the perfect cheeseburger you will need these ingredients:

4lbs lbs Kobe beef

2 Large Vidalia Onion

2 large heirloom tomatoes

4 slices american or muenster cheese

1 cup mayonaise

14 oz of Baby Bella mushrooms

1/2 lb bacon

4 medium size leafs of Romaine lettuce

4 hamburger buns, preferably pretzel or sesame buns.



Preparation

This cheese burger is not for the feint of heart-or those with cholesterol issues. This has lots of juicy fat and bacon, so be warned if you have any medical condition this could affect. This recipe calls for more expensive ingredients but in my experience these deliver the most flavor- so why ruin a great recipe for just a few dollars?

To start, we need to prepare the onions and the mushrooms. Slice the mushrooms and onions into thin small slices. I recommend sauteing them in separate pans in salted butter, with a dash of black pepper . Make sure the mushrooms have all the liquid out and are a crisp golden brown.Make sure the onions are browned & crisp. Set aside on warming plate.

Slice up the heirloom tomatoes into thin slices, about 1/8th to 1/6th of an inch thick and put aside.

Cook the bacon until well browned and very crispy, drain the grease and set aside on warming plate.

Heat up grill to 425 degrees or if grill is not available, turn stove top up to high ( I strongly recommend the grill option)


Form the Kobe beef into four 1/4 -1/3 inch thick patties.

Place the patties on the pre heated grill. Cover to keep flavor and juices in.Check after 3-4 minutes to see if it is seared on the bottom. If so, flip over and sear the other side, again 3-4 minutes. (more or less time may be needed depending on the thickness of the patty) after flipping wait 1 minute and then add 1 slice of cheese to melt on the patty.

Slice the buns, butter each face of the bun, then put them face down on the grill when you flip the patties. Check them often as they brown very fast- you don't want them blackened-just crisped. If the oven is being used, but the broiler on in the oven and face them up to the broilier- watching carefully.

Take buns out when browned & crisp and put on a plate. Brush each face with mayonnaise.Take the cheese covered Kobe patties and put one patty on each bun.


Take the bacon and put 2 strips side by side over the patty. cover the bacon with mushrooms and sauteed onions.Add a slice or two of the heirloom tomato.Cover that all with a slice of romaine lettuce, and place the other half of the buttered bun with mayonnaise on top.

Using a sharp knife, slice the burger in half. Serve with your favorite beer or drink of choice.
French Fries or sweet potato fries are a good side dish, or a small salad.
