Picadillo

If you are looking to make a quick homemade meal here is one of my favorites. It is quick and easy to make and tastes like you spent all day preparing. When making picadillo you may choose your sides. I like to make it with white rice and fresh cuban bread with butter. Some people like to make it with Yellow rice or even over egg noodles. Whichever way you like to eat it this is a quick and tasty meal that is easy to prepare. Hope you enjoy

Ready in: 50 min
Yields: Serves 5 people

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Lean Ground Beef
  • 1/4 onion
  • 1 potato
  • 10 Small Olives
  • 1 small can Tomato Sauce
  • 3 tablespoons Sofrito
  • 1 packet Sazon with Achote
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 2 cups white rice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons olive juice

Preparation and Cooking Instructions

  1. First you will need your utensils, a large skillet with a lid, cutting board and knife,
  2. cut potato into small chunks and chop 1/4 onion
  3. Start heating skillet and add ground beef, add all ingredients except tomato sauce and water
  4. Start brown meat and ingredients
  5. Drain excess oils and return to skillet
  6. Add tomato sauce and 1/2 cup of water and simmer with lid closed tightly until totally cooked(when potato is soft) and sauce is thickening( use more or less water to your desired consistancy
  7. Serve over steaming white rice. and nice cuban bread with butter( or your choice of sides
