I Made My First Quiche

I can't believe it has taken me this long to attempt to make a Quiche. I thought it was a lot of work for a egg pie :O) Enjoyed them when someone else made them, and was amazed at how much they had gone through for breakfast. As I found out though it is really easy and actually quick, maybe quicker then the pancakes, waffles, eggs, omelets I have spent time making. My grandkids always want "Grandma's pancakes, cause they are so good" Maybe now that they are 18 + they will like my Quiche's...Anyway if you have never tried to make one go ahead you may be surprised ! ! !

1-(9-inch)pie crust Homemade or a ready made(the kind you roll out) My brand was Kroeger..

1-1/2 cup shredded cheese (2 to 4 oz.) I used a thinly sliced white cheese I had here, placed it on the bottom of the pie crust, then about 1/3 cup of Gorganzola (crumbled) on top of the white cheese, then a good cup + of a shredded 3 cheese mixture.

I cooked 2 slices of bacon (cut into small pieces) and set aside to drain and cool.

Then I saute'd onions, japaleno's,bell peppers, mushrooms. About 1/2 cup of each. Set these aside also to cool a bit.

Once things are cool, put them on top of the cheese, distributed evenly, and pressed gently to make sure they were settled.

6-EGGS beaten

1cup milk (you can use cream also for a richer quiche)

1/2tsp. dried thyme leaves OR other herb, any herbs or seasonings to your liking

1/2tsp. salt

Now I beat the eggs and seasonings and milk together and slowly pour this over the ingredients already placed in pie dish. I also placed a big handful of Baby Arugula on top.

Bake @ 375 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until it is set. Shouldn't wiggle in the center. Mine took 50 minutes but that was because I added a lot of ingredients.

Add a colorful sprig of fresh basil before serving...

Most Quiche recipes I read were only 2-3 ingredients. You can be as creative as you like, how can you go wrong with such great tasting foods? Have fun and enjoy...:O) Hugs G-Ma

Good for you G-Ma. We make it here at my Inn at least once a week. My guest's favorite is the Spinach-Mushroom-Cheese one.

I have never made one nor has my wife ever tried. I love quiche, if it is not slimy. If it is well done I love it. I am afraid my wife will not like it if I make it and she won't try it. I guess I just have to buck up and just make one to see. Love ya Ma great big hugs to you.

no body...well this was not slimy and I was so proud of myself. Go ahead try it... it is easier then I ever thought...not sure about the calories, but it is healthy, of course not an everyday meal (or is it)? Now I want to try and make some Individual ones...Darn I love to cook...experimenting a lot more these days.

GOD Bless and HUGS :O) G-Ma

      Tom...

Well get with it MAN...they are good and you can make any kind you like, so forgiving.

I used a cheese I had here, cuz on Friday with my wine I like cheese and crackers or bread, so try different kinds of cheese all the time. This one was BERGENOST, a buttery triple cream Norwegian style cheese.(New York's Artisan Cheese).

You could use Monterey Jack,Pepper Jack cheese, Provolone, Swiss, I would guess any kind you like or have handy, that's how I cook, with what I have here.

Well nice to hear my picture mades you hungry...Have a great week end my friend...HUGS ! ! ! :O) God Bless Merle Ann
