Insider's Guide to Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk Restaurants
The Culinary Coast
The Southern Coast of Delaware is a slice of culinary heaven and offers a variety of outstanding cuisine. You can learn more about the restaurants throughout the area by visiting the Culinary Coast Website at: www.visitsoutherndelaware.com/culinarycoast .
Rehoboth Beach is part of the Culinary Coast, a stretch of Delaware beach towns that offer some of the best dining experiences in the Mid Atlantic Coastal Region, and, some might argue, in the world.
I've lived near Rehoboth for more than a decade and my husband and I dine out in this popular seaside town every week. Whether you're looking for pizza, take-out burgers, a casual dining experience, or a delicious meal served in an elegant restaurant, you can enjoy great beach views at the places I'll be sharing with you in this article.
In future hubs, I'll share some unique eating places that are tucked into the side streets of this family friendly resort, but for now, sit back and enjoy the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of the boardwalk as I take you on a cyber tour of some of my favorite places.
Victoria's Restaurant: Elegant Dining by the Sea

Old World Charm at Victoria's Restaurant
Whether you eat inside at one of the tiered seating areas, or outside directly on the boardwalk, you will have stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean as you dine on mouth watering food served by attentive waitresses and waiters.
Victoria's Restaurant offers old world charm, and it's where my husband and I go to celebrate special occasions or dine out with visiting family or friends.
I prefer eating outside when the weather is warm. Wrought iron tables, arbors, and giant urns overflowing with colorful flowers make you feel like you are seated inside a picture perfect postcard. You might catch a glimpse of dolphins swimming in the sea, or a family sitting in an old-fashioned surrey with a fringe on top as they pedal along on the boardwalk.
On summer evenings, you can enjoy ocean breezes and live music while your meal is served and in winter, you can savor your meal sitting near the fireplace in the main dining room, listening to live piano music as you look at the sea through floor to ceiling windows.
Christmastime is particularly special at Victoria's but reservations are a must at that time of year.
Victoria's is famous for their delectable crab melt, which is my personal favorite. It consists of crab meat served in a puff pastry with melted cheese on top. Their quiche is also delicious.
If you're looking for a lighter meal, try eating there between the hours of 3 to 5pm when they offer a lite fair menu that's easier on your waistline as well as your wallet.
I give Victoria's a 5 star rating because it is a truly unique dining experience, has exceptional food and service, some of the best views on the boardwalk and an extensive menu. The food here is pricier than the other restaurants on the boardwalk, but in my opinion, the quality justifies the extra expense.

Casual Dining at Obie's By the Sea
Obie's By The Sea Photo
Obie's has great tasting hamburgers, seafood or veggie wraps, soups and salads. It is my husband's favorite restaurant when he's in the mood for casual dining on lite fare. He usually orders fish and chips, sometimes substituting a fresh salad for the chips. My favorite menu item is their veggie wrap which is teaming with grilled veggies and served with your choice of chips or salad. The Maryland Style Clam Chowder is also excellent.
Aside from the excellent food, the best thing about Obie's is that you can go directly from the beach to an outside or inside table as long as you throw on a T-shirt or cover-up and have flip-flops or sandals covering your feet. Also, even the indoor seating feels like you're sitting outside as the dining room has 2 open sides that let you enjoy ocean breezes.
For those wanting to cool off with alcoholic beverages there are two full service bars, one outside and the other inside and their happy hour specials are very popular.
Obie's closes in late fall and re-opens in late spring.
Atlantic Sands Restaurant
The Atlantic Sands is open year round and along with Victoria's Restaurant, is one of the few places in Rehoboth Beach that serves patrons on holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
It offers indoor dining with fabulous views of the boardwalk, quiet, instrumental music, and a variety of seafood and other menu items. Their buffets are excellent and include seafood and other selections which vary by the season .
My favorite regular menu item is their prime rib dinner which is tender, juicy and served as rare or well done as you want it.
Reservations are recommended during the busy summer months, on weekends and during holidays.
Grotto Pizza Restaurant
Grotto Pizza Menu
Grotto's, is a Rehoboth Beach icon, popular with both tourists and locals. Operating for more than 50 years, Grotto's is famous for their pizza but they are a full service restaurant that offers a variety of Italian foods in addition to great soups and salads.
Grotto's has three locations in Rehoboth, two directly on the boardwalk, each of which has a full service bar with happy hour specials. The boardwalk locations close in late fall and reopen in the springtime, but the Rehoboth Avenue restaurant remains open year-round and is only 1 block in from the boardwalk.
The restaurant's specialty dessert is Gelato, which is available in a wide assortment of flavors.
Take-out selections of all menu items are popular, especially during the busy summer season.
Grotto's also has locations in Bethany Beach, Dewey Beach, Lewes, Long Neck, Seaford and Milford.
The Greene Turtle Offers a View From Above
The Greene Turtle is open year round and in my opinion, the best seats in the house during the warmer seasons are the single row of tables that line the front and side of this 2nd floor restaurant.
The higher elevation is a fun place to "people watch" and offers fabulous views of the boardwalk as well as the beach and ocean.
This is a casual restaurant and sports bar offering a variety of wraps, salads, burgers, soups and appetizers. My favorite menu items is their crab cake sandwich and Maryland crab soup.
The floor to ceiling glass windows along 2 sides of the restaurant allows indoor diners to enjoy ocean views while watching their favorite games on large sports screens. However, indoor seating can be quite noisy, so this is not the place to go if you favor a quiet atmosphere conducive to good conversation.
Gus & Gus Place
Gus & Gus Place
Operating since 1956, Gus & Gus Place is a very casual eatery that offers inexpensive hot breakfasts, lunches, and early dinners.
They're known for their delicious fried chicken, burgers and french fires plus you can order a variety of other items that can be eaten on premises or ordered for take-out (there are many nearby benches on the boardwalk or you can take it back to your hotel room or condo).
The restaurant has indoor booths, but seating is limited and the décor is dated with almost no views of the ocean. Still, the restaurant is very popular with locals and a lot of tourists have been returning to it for many years.
