Foh Shan (富山)Dim Sum Restaurant

Foh Shan is Ipoh very first dim sum restaurant. It is most reputable dim sum restaurant because of its long history and good dining ambience. However, their dim sum price is at high side, as compared to the other top 2 dim sum restaurants.

Strength: First dim sum restaurant in Ipoh and good dining ambient

Weakness: Price is higher than others in Ipoh

Yoke Fook Moon (玉福满) Dim Sum Restaurant

Yoke Fook Moon is one of the emerging top managed dim sum restaurants in Ipoh. They charge reasonable price for top notch quality dim sum, so many locals love to visit Yoke Fook Moon. Big Bao (Steamed fluffy buns with barbecued chicken and egg fillings) and Char Siew Bao (Steamed fluffy buns with barbecued pork fillings) are one of their best. Besides that, Yoke Fook Moon is the only dim sum restaurant to serve night dim sum.

Strength: Reasonable price for top notch quality dim sum and provide night dim sum.

Weakness: Ambient is not as good as Foh Shan Dim Sum Restaurant

Ming Court (明阁)Dim Sum Restaurant

Ming Court Dim Sum Restaurant offers great variety of dim sum dishes in Ipoh. Their dim sum portion is smaller but dim sum is also cheaper than the rest. Many locals love to visit Ming Court as well because of its great variety and cheaper price.

Strength: Great variety of dim sum and cheaper price with smaller portion.

Weakness: Ambient is not as good as Foh Shan Dim Sum Restaurant and Yoke Fook Moon Dim Sum Restaurant.

Personal experience/opinion on Ipoh Dim Sum

Personally I have tried all three dim sum restaurant. I prefer Yoke Fook Moon to both Foh Shan and Ming Court because of the top notch dim sum at reasonable price. Foh Shan dim sum price is expensive and Ming Court dim sum is too small for me.

In fact, Most locals do not visit Foh Shan because of the expensive dim sum. Foh Shan customers are mostly tourists who come to Foh Shan because of its reputation. Most locals either visit Yoke Fook Moon or Ming Court depending on their preference. If you are the one who prefers more variety of dim sum, Ming Court would be your choice. If you prefer great quality dim sum, then Yoke Fook Moon would be your choice.

Lou Wong is Ipoh very first bean sprout chicken restaurant. It is the most reputable, not just Ipoh but also Malaysia nationwide, bean sprout chicken restaurant in Ipoh because of its long history. Most tourists prefer Lou Wong to other two brands because of Lou Wong traditional recipe

Strength: Traditional Ipoh bean sprout chicken recipe

Weakness: Dining ambient is not as good because of its long history and lack of renovation over the years.

Ong Kee (Tauge Ayam)(安记)Restaurant

Onn Kee is Ipoh second bean sprout chicken restaurant. Though Onn Kee is not as reputable as Lou Wong, Onn Kee receives great support from Ipoh locals. Most locals prefer Onn Kee to Lou Wong. The taste of food in Onn Kee is comparable to traditional recipe in Lou Wong.

Strength: Great locals support, then you know the taste should be good

Personal experience/opinion on Ipoh Bean Sprout Chicken

Personally I have tried all three Bean Sprout Chicken restaurants, Lou Wong and Onn Kee are my choices. Personally I do not quite like Lou Leong even Lou Leong has the best dining environment among the three restaurants. This is because Lou Leong bean sprout chicken recipe is not as good as Lou wong or Onn Kee (Just personal taste). I do not stick to Lou Wong or Onn Kee, I visit them in alternate sequence, meaning Lou Wong, then Onn Kee and then back to Lou Wong again. To me, they offer similar quality of bean sprout chicken
