This recipe hub is about I, guess that I have this kind of obsessiveness when I try a recipe for the first time. I try to make it as it as close to the recipe as possible, at least the first time I make the recipe. It there is something that needs tweaking or something you might want more of, such as spices example, then when you make the recipe again you can make the come up with different changes to the recipe then. It might be a good idea to give this recipe time to sit for just bit so, the flavors have time to blend. This recipe is a true crowd pleaser!
One way to change up the way that this dish is prepared is to leave out the artichokes that are recommended in this recipe. The most obvious reason to leave them out, would be the fact that you just don't care for them. If you are making this at home and you have children, they may not like artichokes either. You might get away with putting them in the dish if you can get them to be really small pieces, hardly noticeable. Artichoke hearts do add an interesting flavor to this dish so, if you do like artichokes, I hope that you will leave them in there. It seems to me either you are an artichoke fan or you are not. I prefer marinara or pizza sauce and to dip in.

My favorite food is Italian but, I am also a huge seafood lover so, it stands to reason, that Italian flavored shrimp is a mouth watering dish indeed. A good thing to do is to get to know the people at your local grocery store. They can guide you as to what shrimp is best for you, depending on how you prepare are going to prepare the shrimp. Most grocery stores will steam it and devein the shrimp for you, while you shop. They can page you over the intercom when your order is ready.
When you purchase shrimp you want to be sure that the shrimp is as fresh as possible. Most major grocery stores now-a-days, will have fresh shrimp. There are some places the might even advertise that they receive fresh shrimp daily.
Shrimp that doesn't have that ever slightly spring action when you touch it, the shrimp is a little too old. Being not too far from the coast, we take vacations, or just a weekend trip down to the coast to relax of course, but, on of my favorite things to do would be got get to go out to eat. There's just something about fresh shrimp from the Gulf Coast.
How to avoid a shrimp disaster......
The shrimp will be a gray color. The shrimp will need to be steamed at the store, deveined if they provide that service and shelled. Of course, many grocery stores have shrimp that is pre-seasoned and pre-cooked seafood is usually ready for sale as well. Check with your local store, they might can just steam the shrimp but, not season it.

You will always want to be careful how you store the shrimp. If you aren't going to cook the shrimp for a few hours, that will work out perfect because, the shrimp has to marinate for 2-3 hours.
After the shrimp is cooked, you just have to store in the refrigerator. If you are not going to make up the marinade at that time, just store the shrimp in the refrigerator until ready to use. No longer than 24 hours before using it and after thawing out shrimp do not refreeze uncooked a shrimp.
The marinade can be made ahead of time and stored in a glass jar with an air tight container.

Ingredients to Make This Dish
- 9 oz. package artichoke hearts, frozen
- 1 (12oz. package) frozen medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 cup roasted red sweet peppers, drained and cut into bite size strips
- 1/3 cup olive oil
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning, crushed
- 1 teaspoon lemon peel, finely shredded
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions on how to make this great dish
- In a large saucepan cook (frozen) artichoke hearts according to the package directions. (Adjust the cooking time depending on whether the artichoke hearts are fresh or frozen.
- Add the shrimp for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking or until shrimp are opaque and artichokes are tender. Drain well. When cool enough to handle halve any of the large artichoke pieces.
- In a medium nonmetal bowl, combine artichokes, shrimp and roasted red pepper strips. In a screw top jar combine white wine vinegar, olive oil, green onion, garlic, Italian seasoning, lemon peel, dry mustard, salt and black pepper.
- Cover and shake well. Pour over the artichoke mixture. Toss gently to coat. Cover and chill for 2-4 hours, stirring occasionally.
- To serve, drain mixture, transfer to a shallow serving bowl or platter. Serve with a slotted spoon or toothpicks.

How To Serve
Some serving suggestions would be to serve the shrimp over some angel hair pasta.
One other serving suggestion would be to serve the marinated shrimp over a large bed of greens. Then for the rest of the salad, you can serve all the things to go on the salad. Cheese, eggs, chopped onions or chives and bacon bits.
Serve this delicious shrimp with white rice or you could serve with fried rice.
