It's Pumpkin Spice Season Again!

Updated on September 4, 2017

Hate it or love it.

The warm spice is back again and it's ready to make an impact in your life.

Surprisingly though, it's not just good for imparting that classic feel of fall, but actually has some health benefits for those who want an excuse to eat more pumpkin spice.

Pumpkin, ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon are some of the few spices that make up "pumpkin spice". Each spice holds its own unique properties and surprisingly boosts your way to a healthy heart. Some examples:

  • Pumpkin: High in Vitamin A
  • Ginger: Supports the immune system and especially helps fight the flu now that we're headed into flu season
  • Nutmeg: Detoxification agents
  • Cinnamon: Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant rich and high in manganese

Vegans will love this option too! Nothing food-wise can be considered a fad until it's been made into an oreo flavour. These are great and are true to taste. Seriously recommend.

At first, I thought this was odd... but it's basically a coffee-less version of the pumpkin spice latte. You can get this in non-dairy milk too as company Silk sells a pumpkin spice soy flavour that's tasty and a real treat.

6. Instant #PSL

If you want the iconic Starbucks latte but you don't necessarily want to spend a fortune, then I have a solution for you! Starbucks now sells the latte via an "instant" mix that surprisingly resembles the real thing. Add some whipped cream to make it official.

7. Pumpkin Spice Potato Chips

For those who love salty and sweet, you'll be excited for this one. This would be perfect before a pre-game or during movie night. Boulder Canyon offers a sleuth of crazy fall flavours including stuffing, turkey and gravy, and of course, pumpkin spice.

8. Pumpkin Spice Cookies

That's right. You can now have your favourite fall spice in a cookie form. There's a bunch of great ways to make this, including buying them from a store. Or, if you want to go out, you can use pumpkin puree and make it truly homemade. For those who want to bake but not do anything too extreme, here's a recipe I've tried that just required a pumpkin spice cake mix you can find in your local grocery store.
