Jello Spritz cookies

Updated on September 22, 2010

I really enjoy making Spritz cookies for Christmas and this is an interesting variation on those cookies, made with Jello. I make it with strawberry or raspberry jello, but you can try any flavor. You need to use a cookie press to make the nicest looking cookies but you can make drop cookies with this recipe, just drop by teaspoonfuls.

INGREDIENTS

4 CUPS SIFTED FLOUR

1 TEASPOON BAKING POWDER

1 1/2 CUPS BUTTER OR MARGARINE

1 CUP SUGAR

1 3 OUNCE PACKAGE JELLO, ANY FLAVOR

1 EGG

1 TEASPOON VANILLA

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Sift flour and baking powder. Cream butter and gradually add sugar and gelatin, creaming well after each addition. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Gradually add flour mixture, mixing after each addition until smooth.

Press dough through the cookie press onto ungreased baking sheets. Sprinkle with colored sugar or candy sprinkles if desired. Bake for about 13 to 14 minutes or until golden brown at edges.

Make about 5 dozen cookies.
