Make-ahead Thanksgiving side dish recipes

I hate being stuck in the kitchen all day on thanksgiving when my friends and family or having fun. These wonderful side dishes can be made ahead of time so on thanksgiving you will have time to do the fun stuff and not be stressed out. To help you save even more time make sure you take a look at my make-ahead thanksgiving appetizers and desserts.


Cranberry Sauce

  • 2 bags fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 2 C. sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 2 Lemons, juiced
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. clove
  • 1 C. orange juice
  • 1 tsp. salt
  1. In pan add all and bring to a boil
  2. cook until thickened, 20 to 25 minutes.
  3. cool and chill, can be made up to 2 days ahead of time, sever cold or hot

Marinated Mushrooms


Marinated Mushrooms

2 C. mushrooms

2 Tbsp. lemon juice

2 Tbsp. Red wine vinegar

4 Tbsp. chopped fresh oregano, Rosemary, and Parsley

4 Tbsp. olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

1 onion, sliced

1/2 tsp. nutmeg

1. Clean and cut mushrooms in half.

2. In bowl mix juice, vinegar, and herbs

3. Whisk in oil in a slow, steady stream; whisk until mixture is emulsified.

4. Add salt, pepper and nutmeg

5. Mix mushrooms and onion into air tight bowl and pour oil mix over mushroom mix.

6. Let chill in refrigerator for up to 2 days before meal sever room temp.

Cornbread And Sausage Stuffing


Cornbread And Sausage Stuffing

1 lb pkg. pork sausage, crumble

1 large onion, chopped

2 celery stalks, chopped

1 bell pepper, fine chopped

Salt and pepper to taste

1 pan cornbread, boxed or homemade cubed

3 tsp. dried sage

2 large eggs, hard boiled and mashed

2 c. chicken broth canned or homemade (for homemade see my recipe Here)

1. Boil all veggies for 10 minutes in water, and drain when done. Season with salt and pepper

2. Mix all together in a pan.

3. Bake for 20 minutes at 350; keep chilled till dinner up to 2 days. Reheat add more both if to dry and bake until hot.
