Marie Callender's Cheesy Chicken & Rice Frozen Dinner Is Delightfully Delicious

Updated on January 1, 2015

A Fondness For Frozen Food

Ever since I was a child, I have been a fan of frozen foods. When our parents went out and we were being watched by a babysitter, my sisters and I would sometimes eat frozen dinners or pot pies for supper. Those frozen dinners were some of my favorite childhood meals.

Through the years, I have purchased and eaten a wide range of frozen dinners. Some of these products were definitely better than others.

When I ate my first Marie Callender's frozen meal about a year ago, I was very impressed. Since then, I have purchased and eaten many other Marie Callender's frozen meals. Every one of the six or seven varieties I have tried has been above average in flavor, texture, quantity and overall quality.

Presented here in an effort to assist the consumer, is an honest product review of the Marie Callender's Cheesy Chicken & Rice frozen dinner.

An abundance of white rice provides a nice bed for the other ingredients and a fairly thick cheese sauce holds everything together. The overall mouth-feel offered by this Marie Callender's dinner is quite pleasing.

Taste / Flavor

As soon as I saw this frozen dinner for the first time, I wondered if it would taste like one of those delicious homemade broccoli with cheese sauce dishes that are often served at family holiday dinners.

Well, this frozen dinner tastes even better than most of those casseroles. As with every one of the Marie Callender's dinners I've eaten, this meal is made up of several fresh and real ingredients that taste great together.

When cooked according to directions, the white meat chicken in the Marie Callender's Cheesy Chicken & Rice frozen dinner is fairly moist and it really tastes as good as fresh chicken I would cook at home.

The broccoli in this dinner tastes fresh, with no unpleasant broccoli flavor present. A good amount of pleasant-tasting white rice in this meal is accented by equally pleasant tasting sliced mushrooms.

The cheese sauce in this dinner features a mellow, non-overwhelming flavor that is a wonderful match for the other ingredients.

On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign this product a rating of 9.50.

Overall Rating

First of all, I have to admit that I'm a big fan of frozen dinners. For approximately one year now, I've been purchasing and eating various types of Marie Callender's frozen meals.

To be honest, I have been very pleased with every one of the many Marie Callender's dinners I've tried.

It's not only the flavor of the dinners that I enjoy. The overall high quality, reasonable prices and comparatively healthy nutrition facts offered by the dinners are other reasons why I like the meals so much.
