A Spicy Filling Adds a Touch of the Exotic

A Christmas Treat

A rich, crumbly topping mixture over a mincemeat-filled middle.

You can enjoy all the flavor of mincemeat tarts, without having to roll out and cut pastry dough when you make these mincemeat bars.

Mincemeat bars are easy to make and are something a little different to add to your Christmas line-up of favorite treats to bake for the Holidays.

Santa Would Approve

Sinfully rich: soft mincemeat centers and a delicious butter-based crumbly topping.

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cup sifted flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 3/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1 jar of mincemeat

How to Make Mincemeat Bars

  1. Cream butter thoroughly
  2. Stir in brown sugar
  3. Add vanilla
  4. Add, flour, baking powder and salt (sifted together)
  5. Add rolled oats

Mix ingredients thoroughly.

  • Take half of mixture and pat into a buttered 9 x 13" pan
  • Spread with mincemeat
  • Crumble the remaining dry mixture and sprinkle over the mincemeat
  • Gently press into place

Bake mincemeat bars in a 325-degree oven for 25 minutes, reducing heat, if necessary, to avoid over-browning.

My mother used to make these wonderful bars growing up, they've become one of my husband's favorite Christmas goodies :-)

      Hi Donna,

Thank you! these are much easier to make than mincemeat tarts and taste every bit as good. I like this recipe because it's different.
