Easy, Cheesy Tater Tot Casserole

Updated on November 20, 2010

This is What Tater Tots Were Designed For

This is the last stop in your search for the best tater tot casserole in existence. All the world over, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and potluck dinners of the future will never again be complete without this wonderfully cheesy, dangerously delicious combination of tater tots, sour cream, shredded cheese and more, generously topped with fabulous french-fried onions.

You're On The Path To Greatness

You'll Need:

2 lbs. Tater Tots, thawed
1 (10.5 oz.) can cream of chicken soup
1 cup chopped onion
1 (16oz.) container sour cream
1 (8oz.) pkg shredded cheddar
1 dash garlic powder
1/2 tsp. seasoned salt
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, softened
French Fried Onions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9x13 casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray.

In a large bowl, combine tater tots, soup, chopped onion, sour cream, shredded cheese, garlic powder, seasoned salt, and butter. Mix well and transfer to casserole dish.

Bake 35-45 minutes, then top with french fried onions. Bake an additional 5-10 minutes or until brown and bubbly.

Don't Say I Didn't Warn You

Just like my Easy and Delicious Holiday Cheese Ball, this Tater Tot Casserole is so delicious that there's no way you'll ever get away with making it just once. That's why it's super easy to do. Great comfort food is about enjoying yourself and making your family smile. So relax and have a good time over indulging.

I'd love to get your input. So if you've decided to try this recipe, please leave a comment below and let me know how it went.

I always make this with Fiesta nacho cheese soup. Never any leftovers. And I put my crockpot on high for 3 hours instead of baking it.

I just made this tonight. It was amazing. I thought I had cream of chicken soup but forgot I used my last can last week. I didn't have time to go to the store, so instead I used cream of celery, and my hubby and I loved it. I think when I make this from now on I won't even use cream of chicken
