Updated on April 1, 2011

Mouth watering pumpkin bread

With a mouth watering aroma snaking it's way through my home, this moist delectable pumpkin bread will have the whole family lining up in the kitchen waiting for the oven timer to go off. Without a doubt this recipe is one to keep and pass along to all of your family and friends.

What you'll need

1 cup canned pumpkin

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/4 cup sour cream

1/2 cup water

2 eggs

Pumpkin bread in loaf pan
Pumpkin bread in loaf pan

Dry Ingredients

1-2/3 cups all purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

3/4 teaspoon baking powder

1-1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

3/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

3/4 cup chopped walnuts

1/2 cup raisins (optional)

3/4 teaspoon salt

1-3/4 cups sugar

Let's make pumpkin bread!

In a large bowl, add pumpkin, sugar, oil, water, sour cream and eggs.  In a separate bowl add all the dry ingredients together (except for the nuts). Slowly add to the pumpkin mixture and mix together. Stir in walnuts and raisins. (Raisins are considered optional but are delicious if added).

Add batter to a greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 70 minutes. (It is advised depending on your type of oven or the altitude where you live to start checking for doneness at about 1 hour. Do this by inserting a toothpick in center of bread. If it comes out clean with no dough residue, then its done.

Let cool in pan for about 15 minutes then move to wire rack.
