My Mother's Homemade Chocolate Mousse
Hello everybody, today has been stressful... I am still fighting off an infection and I have just learnt that my exam results will be released tomorrow at 9 am. I am dreading it so much... So, to distract myself from it I have been playing stardew valley and pretending that everything is fine. Not that I'm afraid of failing, I'm just not good at that sort of stuff...
Anyway, this recipe is my mother's and it is dreamy! It is also the only alcoholic recipe that I genuinely love. Although, I don't meant to say alcohol is bad, I just don't like the taste of it. I must say that this recipe uses a raw egg, so, if you don't like that or you cannot eat raw eggs, don't make this.
I will make this fairly short though, I need to go to bed soon and I'm too anxious to do much but think about university, grades and graduation. Please tell me if you try this and if you liked it, I would love to know.
- 200 grams dark chocolate
- 4 eggs
- 30 grams butter
- 80 grams caster sugar
- 10 grams vanilla sugar
- Melt the chocolate in a bain marie, which is to say in a large bowl over a medium saucepan half-filled with water.
- Then, remove the bowl from the saucepan and add the sugar and the butter. In a separate bowl, separate the egg whites and yolks and beat the egg whites until stiff.
- Add the egg yolks to the chocolate mixture and then gently fold in the egg whites. Add a teaspoon of rhum and fold in carefully so as to not knock out all the air.
- Store in the fridge until ready for consumption.
