McDonalds McCafe Caramel Mocha Review Including Cost and Nutrition

Updated on June 18, 2013

Cari Jean is a freelance writer and author. Her inspiring memoir "Having Faith" is available on Amazon. She resides in North Dakota.

The Caramel Mocha is McDonald's newest addition to their family of popular espresso drinks, which are part of the McCafe product line. It arrives in perfect time for the holiday season and as part of their promotion for all of their espresso drinks, they have been using the marketing slogan, Share the Joy.

This new drink is made with sweet caramel, rich chocolate and smooth espresso topped with whipped cream and a caramel drizzle.

My Review

As soon as I saw the sign promoting their Caramel Mocha, I knew I had to try it. I am a fan of McCafe's espresso drinks and I had a feeling their newest drink would not disappoint.

From my first hot sip, I was hooked. I tasted the strong chocolate mocha flavor with a hint of caramel and thought it really was the perfect blend of espresso, chocolate and caramel. The whip on top with a little bit of caramel drizzle added the perfect touch.

Now, I must say that as I neared the end of the drink the caramel taste got stronger and stronger and it became so sweet that I couldn't finish the last few drops. This however, will not deter me from ordering another one.

**** I would give the McCafe Caramel Mocha a 4 out of 5 stars!

Cost

Typically, the Caramel Mocha at McDonald's McCafe sells for:

  • 12 oz. - $2.29
  • 16 oz. - $2.79
  • 20 oz. - $3.19

Betsy - thanks for your comment. I can see how you say it is too sweet - it is definitely sweeter than the Starbucks version. I have not tied to peppermint mocha as I really don't like that flavor but then again it if tasted like they left out the peppermint I might like it!

I tried one of the new caramel mocha's today and was waaaay too sweet and couldn't tell there was any coffee in it. I ordered a medium and drank just a few sips as I didn't like all the sweetness. Also tried a peppermint mocha several weeks ago and it's like they left out the peppermint.

gleekedoutt - I guess it has a sweeter taste to it than coffee. I would say the iced mocha tastes more like coffee than the caramel mocha. I would say if you don't like coffee you might not like the caramel mocha. Hope this helps!

Hello. I was just wondering if the drink tasted like coffee. i'm not sure if anyone will understand, but I tried the iced mocha and hated it. Too strong and reminded me too much of coffee and I hate coffee. Is it similar to that?

b4murray - thanks for your comment. I like the other McDonald's drinks as well - one of my faves is their hazelnut iced coffee. So much cheaper than Starbucks!

Cari, I recently got one of these Caramel Mochas...It was a long day at work, and I needed a pick me up. It was really good, though very sweet. Luckily I like sweet, and it definitely had a good "strength" to the coffee part of it. I would recommend people try it too.
