Oprah's Favorite Things in the Kitchen

Updated on April 19, 2013

Who isn't excited when Oprah announces her Favorite Things show. For me I can't wait to see what she and her staff have selected. It's a great opportunity to start planning what I want to buy for friends and family and to make hints about what I would like to see under the tree on Christmas morning.

This year was no exception! Watching the men and women in her audience go crazy with each new item was almost as much fun as being there. And when her second audience thought they had missed out only to find that they were also going to get in on her Favorite Things, I too felt their excitement.

Since this will be the last time Oprah does a Favorite Things show, I thought it would be fun to look at some of the wonderful kitchen cookware and appliances a little closer.

Baker's Edge Nonstick Edge Brownie Pan
Baker's Edge Nonstick Edge Brownie Pan

Adds two chewy edges to every brownie - What could be better!

Baker's Edge Nonstick Pans

If you love to eat brownies but you are always the one taking the piece with the edge then this pan is for you. It has sidewalls that add two more chewy edges to each brownie. What could be more perfect than a wonderful, chewy, chocolate brownie with your favorite cup of tea or coffee on a cold winter’s afternoon!

Everyone has a favorite lasagna recipe but there isn’t anything more satisfying that eating the first few slices from the pan. It seems the pieces closer to the edge of the pan tastes better and the ones in the middle which end up sliding and losing their shape. With this pan you not only get a nice looking piece of lasagna but you are guaranteed that the whole recipe will be well cooked. Just add your favorite salad, a slice of garlic bread and you have a wonderful and tasty dinner for you and your family!

The Best Brownie

The classic brownie has been around for a long time. It was always a treat at our house and I still love to eat them fresh out of the oven with a little vanilla ice cream! How divine. Now you can use this incredible brownie mix and know that you will get perfect, moist and chewy brownies every time.

Breville Panini Press

This particular model has a larger cooking surface than previous models allowing you to cook up to four sandwiches.  Great for a busy family or casual entertaining.  The features of the Breville Panini Press include nonstick cast aluminum, variable heat controls, an adjustable top plate and an angled grilling surface.  Whether you are making a grilled chicken sandwich or a toasted chocolate panini you will find that this particular appliance will get used on a regular basis.  And all for an affordable price!

Prepara PP01-HS100 Herb Savor
Prepara PP01-HS100 Herb Savor

Prolongs the life of your fresh herbs for up to 3 weeks and fits inside a typical refrigerator door.

Herb Savor

Do you love having fresh herbs to add to your favorite recipes during the cold winter months? The problem is how do you keep them fresh if you don’t use them up in a recipe?

The Prepara Herb Savor is the answer. It will keep your fresh herbs fresh for up to three weeks! It has a refillable water well and a removable stainless steel basket and will keep all kinds of herbs fresh from basil and parsley to cilantro and mint as well as rosemary and thyme.

A Good Kitchen Knife

There is nothing worse than trying to use a dull knife when working in the kitchen. If you are fed up with having to buy new knives or constantly sharpen ones you have then give the Kyocera knives a try.

They are made of ceramic and make a great gift or addition to you own kitchen. They come in several sizes including a 5.5 inch Santoku and 3-inch paring knife. Not only are they light weight but are well balanced with an ergonomic handle. You don’t have to worry about using them with liquids or oils and salt as they won’t rust.

A Great Set of Pots

When I was first married someone gave me a yellow Le Creuset crepe pan. It has been a great addition to my kitchen and given me many years of faithful service. These porcelain and enameled cast iron pieces will last a life time but more importantly they help to properly cook your food. Made in France they are durable and easy to clean. The surface is scratch and stain resistant so you favorite tomato sauce recipe won’t stain the interior of the pot. There are many different pieces available including skillets, stock pots and casserole dishes. There is even a cook book available.

I love to cook. My kitchen is full of gadgets, but the most essential for me are my Wusthof Trident knives. Nothing beats a good set of knives. I enjoyed reading your article. The videos are great. You article is easy to follow. Makes me want to go shopping for more kitchen gadgets. Thanks for sharing. Teresa
